The last Suntory Championship was in 2004 between Yokohama F. Marinos and Urawa Red Diamonds - that definitely was a nail-biter!

J.LEAGUE International oh I see. I meant the 2016 “Championship stage” final between Kashima and Urawa. I figured it was a continuation of the Suntory championship (at least in spirit) or a continuation of the Meiji Yasuda championship that ended in 2015.

@@bolso4 Yes, you're right. 2004 was the last Suntory Championship, with the two split season winners. 2015 and 2016 saw the Championship Stage where a knockout tournament took place between the three best overall teams.
