Something to keep in mind when you're watching or listening to these bands from the early 70's or late 60's: At that point, they didn't know what they were to become. It's awesome to see the raw hunger, the desire to just ROCK, the energy, before they had a reputation and style to 'live up to'. This is when legends were made.

Incredible set, wipping up the crowd, well worth checking out as are Deep Purple and ELPs sets there, one of the best shows ever. Perhaps somebody already addressed this in the comments but the reason for the second microphone is usually one goes out to the main PA system and the second goes to a recording device or sometimes each microphone would go to its own separate PA in an attempt to get the vocals louder than the guitars in the band blasting away behind the vocalist. Sound reinforcement was really in its infancy at this point

Black Sabbath is credited w/ laying down the foundations of the genre of hard rock/ heavy metal in the 70's w/ the original line-up of - Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums) ... Although they were not as popular as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath influenced every rock/ metal band in the 80's and beyond w/ their heavy riffs... from Motley Crue and Metallica... to Nirvana and Tool... People say that every metal band has a Sabbath riff, just sped up or played differently. Other Black Sabbath classics - 'Iron Man' ... 'Children of the grave' ... 'The Wizard' ... 'N.I.B.' ... 'Into the void' ... 'Symptom of the universe'... 🤘🤘 Black Sabbath were formed in Birmingham, England in the late 60's and debuted a dark, heavy sound on their debut album 'Black Sabbath' in 1970... followed that very year by 'Paranoid'... which charted at #1 in the UK as Black Sabbath toured N. America. They released more iconic, heavy rock albums - 'Master of Reality' (1971)... 'Volume 4' (1972)... 'Sabbath bloody Sabbath' (1973) However, drug and alcohol abuse... and financial mismanagement... affected Black Sabbath by 1974 and the album 'Sabotage' (1975) was their angriest album to date; it was a precursor to what became thrash metal in the 80's. Ozzy Osbourne was not happy w/ the changes to Sabbath's music on their last 2 albums - 'Technical ecstasy' in 1976 and 'Never say die!' in 1978... The band was deep in substance abuse and burnt out creatively in 1979. Guitarist Tony Iommi fired Ozzy from Black Sabbath... he wanted to work w/ vocalist Ronnie James Dio on the next Sabbath album. Of course, Ozzy Osbourne was devastated and sank deeper into addiction, until his future wife Sharon offered to manage him and start his solo career in 1980... Ozzy became even more successful than Black Sabbath in the 80's and beyond. Post-Ozzy Black Sabbath had some success... Ronnie James Dio (vocals) delivered 2 stellar Black Sabbath albums - 'Heaven and Hell' (1980) and 'Mob Rules' (1981)... before he was fired in 1982 and he went off to form his own band Dio in 1983. Ian Gillan (vocals) from Deep Purple did 1 Sabbath album 'Born Again' in 1983... but no original members were in Black Sabbath by 1986 when guitarist Tony Iommi kept the band going w/ various singers and musicians... including vocalists like Tony 'Cat' Martin... Glenn Hughes... In 1997, Black Sabbath finally reunited w/ Ozzy Osbourne to tour and the original line-up finally came together and made a double live album 'Reunion' in 1998... and toured successfully in the 2000's. In 2006, vocalist Ronnie James Dio reunited w/ guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler and opted to name the band Heaven and Hell... performing only Dio-era Sabbath songs. Heaven and Hell released 1 album 'The devil you know' in 2009 before Ronnie James Dio passed away from cancer in 2010 at age 67. In 2013, Black Sabbath (without drummer Bill Ward) recorded the album '13' and it charted at #1 in the US... Black Sabbath opted to play a 'farewell' tour that ended in 2017 and released the live album 'The End: Live in Birmingham'.
