I discovered BABYMETAL in the summer of 2015 and fell down the fox hole HARD. I remember waking up at 5am to follow twitter posts for the Yokahama show where they first played The One and shot that footage. Hearing Su sing in english that day completely blew me away, it's really a moment I'll never forget.

Great & Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。(1) "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have heard this song. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her piercing voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her. (2) Some people said "The One" was a little bit too repetitive. But in their live performance you feel as if the length of this song were only 30 seconds and want to listen to it forever. I witnessed it total 10 times at venues. Whenever they performed this song, I saw divine beauty and heard angelic voices.

Rondo of nightmare is my favorite BABYMETAL song! The band is obviously amazing and Su just blows the doors off! Great reaction!
Love your reactions to them. I enjoy watching you as much as them, you are so genuine. My favorite part is how you clap and it's a video. I still do that and have been following them since 2011 when they first started and have seen these songs 1000's of times. I've been a guitar player for 45 years and have yet to see any other performers who can touch them in energy, talent and professionalism. Their dedication to their craft is like no other. By the way, you're impression of The One is spot on too, it is how they are at "one" with their audience.

Great reaction to these amazing songs. I absolutely love the eerily dark sounding Rondo of Nightmare. I totally agree with Su looking as though she is a marionette... It represents her floating in water. And what can you say about The One... Simply beautiful. Thank you for the reaction. 🦊🤘🔥🖤

Others may hate it, but I like it when reactors rewind (is that word still being used nowadays?) and replay certain parts. It shows that they are really into it. And I love how you feel every single note, even during the solos. That's how it should be! Rondo of Nightmare has the perfect chorus to me. It's quite complex, but still catchy, and the melody is stunningly beautiful and full of that haunting dark atmosphere at the same time. The One is really special, and I don't mean just among BABYMETAL songs. It's a sign of the great relationship between the band and the fans, not all bands are lucky enough to have such a great chemistry. Sometimes just seeing the sea of outstretched hands with kitsune sign moves me to tears. You can practically feel the love that fills the whole arena. It must have been a fantastic moment for the girls.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 - In English, we also call a puppet controlled by strings a marionette. We "borrowed" that word from the French. : ) ⚡ 💀 💕 /🔺 From what they said after this performance of 'THE ONE', the hardest part wasn't the height, it was to stick to the choreography instead of waving to the people in the crowd below. Those two nights at Yokohama Arena in December 2015 were the final dates of the 2015 BABYMETAL World Tour. There's a little bit of footage from 'Road of Resistance' in this, from the same show. The video has the audio from the domestic (Japanese) release of the Metal Resistance album. The international release of the album has an entirely English version. Usually this song is performed in English, even in Japan. More recently they have been starting off with a softer "Unfinished version" before going into the version with guitars and drums.
Great reactions again. I am surprised to see you pause and notice elements of the songs exactly being moved by the same things I was when I first heard them. The guitar solos in Rondo and Su's incredible vocal range. The feeling when the music drops and it's just Sumetal's voice. All the same for me. The One is such a great anthem and it pulls you into the song and you feel happy and float with the music. The harmony of all their voices is wonderful here. Keep going on your journey through BabyMetal it does not disappoint. Thanks for posting your reactions.

Very cool reactions👊🏽⚡️ Rondo is such a powerful performance by the Kami’s. Then Su. The One is beautiful. The girls were the inspiration for the floating pyramid. They had told Koba that they were sad that the people in the back of the arena couldn’t see the show. So the management came up with this apparatus.

Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos! Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte.... Love watching Hideki in this, when they pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the pounding in the solo. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘

Nice, nice reaction! Rondo of Nightmare is probably the darkest song from BM (not the heaviest), SU is going to have nightmares again, in the Darkside era. Great song, everything fits perfectly well, the lyrics, the music and SU's singing all blends smoothly, another jewel after Akatsuki. The ONE was originally intended to be the second part of a longer song, then split into two different ones: Tales of the Destinies and The ONE. They still share the main riff. ToTD is quite complicated, arguably the most difficult by many aspects, it has been performed only once, at the Tokyo Dome, to close the Red Night, of course with The ONE. The latter indeed has been used as the last song on the set for many shows since the first time and featured some of the most amazing visuals and meaningful moments among all their performances, like when they explained why they choose to begin their 2016 World Tour at the Wembley Arena. There are many versions of The ONE, this is the original, then there's the English version, the unfinished one and also the whole unplugged one they shoot at Budokan and released before this unfortunate pause. 🤘🏻🦊⚡

Outstanding reactions! Again! Thanks! The performances of "Rondo of nightmare" from the Budokan 2014 shows are really impressive. And it's crazy that Su was just 16 back then, standing (and dancing) by herself on a relatively small elevated platform, without any safety and probably not being able to see a thing because of the spotlight. This was the second time they performed it live (the song premiered on the first concert, the previous night at the same venue). And still performing like THIS. And the same applies to "The ONE" performance in Yokohama 2015. That was actually the song's world premiere. Don't count on me for getting on that platform (although they had a safety line this time). I love the detail of Su's mic also having a wrist safety cord. Very thoughtful... you don't want to kill a kitsune by a mic drop :) Until next time!

Nice reaction. Cool choice on songs. I may be bias, but you could pick any two songs By Babymetal and it still would be a cool choice. Rondo has that great intro. Love the faces Boh makes when he's done. The One is really cool as they got lifted out over the audience. Yui said the hardest part was keeping to the choreography as she wanted to just wave to the fans. Enjoy the continued journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.

In Rondo, when you talked about a marionette (an English word also 🙂), the down lights around her were evocative of puppet strings, and also bars on a cage, as she is imprisoned by the monster and her own dream. One of the greatest things about Babymetal is that every element is so precise and carefully thought through, including the concert stage lighting. So, so good. Thank you for another excellent reaction

You're treating us today - 5 Babymetal songs! Saw you pop up in Ohrenje and Co's trailer for their Band-Maid animation too - we're all looking forward to that! Gotta admire how Su, Moa and Yui accept being put in precarious places sometimes! Su on top of that 3 metre high platform with not a lot of room to move and then the three of them being hoisted up in that pyramid. At 18:20 you can see Moa's tears of happiness and she has said she had to look up to stop her tears falling onto the audience! We are all The One! Kitsune up! 🦊🤘🤘🦊

Rondo of Nightmare is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance. So they are using the "progy" elements to set a mood and make us feel certain emotions, not just as a gimmick. That's always the case with BM, some things might initially seem gimmicky, but they are really serious in what they do. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution (translation by du-metal): It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness. Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends. The One is a very sentimental song for BM fans...and I think for BM themselves. It's all about the solidarity between BM and their fans and is a gift from BM to their fans. That all sounds a bit cheesy and I would not believe the sentiments from many bands, but somehow I do believe it from Su, Moa and Yui. For me the best version of The One was at the Tokyo Dome because it comes after it's companion piece "Tales of the Destinies"

09:05 It's not a digital effect. Su is doing that. If you notice, she has the mic pressed against her face and the side of her nose. She is singing through her nose. Seriously. It's like a natural "Talk Box" (See also: Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do [ kzbin.info/www/bejne/nobMoKiabLanqdk ]). 09:38 En français: C'est marionnette. En anglais: C'est aussi marionnette. (C'est en fait marionette en anglais. Un seul N.) I enjoy your reactions. You're getting it. You're understanding a LOT of what's going on with the music. We could tell you the whole story, but where's the fun in that? Keep going! ! ! TMI: For some reason, since May 2018, whenever I hear THE ONE, I get teary-eyed. I think it's because the show in Kansas City, Missouri was the first time I heard the song without Yui. But it only happens with THE ONE. Weird.

As much as I like to think it's true, I cannot says that's a fact about SU singing nasally, There is no consensus on that... A known reactor who has quite some musical knowledge, asked a technician friend and that friend said that this was an effect. While another musician reactor said that this can be pulled off without effect, buit we don't know for sure who is right here.

@@BlackArr0w I remember reading somewhere (now I'm going to have to try to find it again. . . pray for me) that it was a technique that Su had been working on specifically for Akumu no Rondo. A six-string bass isn't especially difficult to play if you have a good musical education. The sixth string is just another series of notes in another pitch. What would make it tricky for me is the feel of the instrument. The strings would be closer together than the five-string bass guitars I've been playing since I was 14, the neck would be wider, it would be a little more space for my fingers to access, and the overall weight would be greater than what I'm used to. Playing a four-string presents the same minor problems only in reverse.
