La Vereda de la Estrella Hiking Route is one of the most emblematic Hiking Routes in Sierra Nevada, and possibly, one of the prettiest Hiking Routes in Andalucia.
The Hiking Route of Vereda de la Estrella is situated a little over 30min from Granada. If you do this Route in spring, you will come across green fields that have been dotted with colorful flowers, and as background, you will be able to admire the snow-capped peaks of Mulhacén and Alcazaba.
The Vereda de la Estrella has a spectacular path to enter the Sierra Nevada National Park. It runs mid-slope through the Genil valley, and it was made to transport copper and silver from the Estrella and La Probadora mines by horse, that is why you will notice that the path is quite spacious.
During the journey, you will also come across "El Abuelo", a century-old chestnut tree which is 20.5 meters high.

We did a circular Route, ascending via the "cuesta de los presidiarios", which is quite steep, to then continue along the sunny slope on the other side of the valley, where we came across the Cockroach and the Aceral Shelters. We did an overnight stop in the Aceral Shelter, where eventually, the day cleared off and allowed us to admire a beautiful sight: the mountains at night sprinkled with stars. Then, in the morning, we continued walking, crossing into the valley to finally reach the classic Vereda de la Estrella on our way back.

Location: Güejar Sierra
Route: Circular
Distance: 22.8Km
Time: We did it in two days, but it's possible to do it in around 8 hours.
If you love hiking, and enjoy the peace of nature whilst admiring the awe-inspiring landscape, then you must certainly try out the Vereda de la Estrella.
P.S. This time we have left a bit of ambience sound mixed with some music. Let us know what you think! Do you like to see the video with music, or do you rather have ambience sound; so that you can hear the crunch of gravel or the squelch of mud under hiking boots, the gushing sound of the water in the river as it flushes downhill, the birds chirping away as we intrude into their territory, and even my deep breathing when going up hill.
