Do you have any informations about the skiving knives without a wood handle that Blanchard makes? Any thoughts?

I m thinking about getting a skiver and I probably a Vergez Blanchard (special skiver), do you think it s a good choice as you seems to get a lot of other brands knifes? You said Hermes Special Order one, do you think it s the same as the one Vergez Blanchard advertise in their website ? I met some Hermes artisan and they use customs made skiver, some just have the blade and not the handle...

yes, I've heard that Hermes uses different skiver. maybe it's just rumor. but special order ones are pretty good too. you won't regret buying one. : ) but VB isn't always the answer. find one what you like and that's it!

Maybe try heat treat the softer blade again. You don't like it now so maybe OK to experiment with the heat treatment.. Good video. Enjoyed it.

I have a skiving knife made by Osborne, it is rubbish every time I use it the edge rolls over and nick outs appear its not fit for purpose.

hello. Thanks for the comment. yes, current Osborne leather craft tools are not that great compare to old ones. either they used improper steel or heat treated badly.

Hello. Thanks for the comment. The brown leather sheath is vegetable tan leather. There is no "name" for this leather. This one is from my friend. he bought it in Italy.
