They COULD have simply changed a few names, including that of the game itself and kept the gameplay, then it might've actually been better received. Hell, it might've sold on the premise that it was simply CREATED by some of the same team as the DMC franchise. Oh and that it was testing a new engine. On that same note, the part where the wig falls on "Dante's" head? Would have had an entirely different reaction. That said, it could be that I've always thought of it as the "Western version" of DMC. It felt like some attempt at a Hollywood adaptation of the franchise. Otherwise? The combat is excellent and the only real "Devil May Cry" thing about it. I have the feeling that if the other developer hadn't flipped the bird to the fans, that it might not have been panned as badly as it was and that the usual sour mood and critique is due to that. I mean, I get it, but I always try to look for that silver lining. From a gameplay perspective, I still enjoyed playing. The DT is a bit disappointing though.
