nice to see "the code book" it's a good read, and if you're a massive nerd it's pretty fun to work through the excercises. i verify downloads, at least for large files, because i do things a bit odd. i split up the file with curl using the range option and download it in multiple parts, then reassemble it with cat, and check the hash. if something goes wrong it's usually obvious which chunk caused it, and it's nice to download like 100MB instead of several GB
