Creating a sprite for an in-game building/house in Photoshop. Speed at 8.5x.
I am working on adding functionality for players constructing houses/buildings - and of course - I'll need some sort of stand-in for testing functionality ... So I spend a little time putting together a quick sprite for a basic house.
Trying to come up with a good ''perspective'' for these in-game assets is somewhat difficult. I was originally quite stead-fast on the idea of a complete-top-down perspective, and perhaps not quite appreciating the difficulties that would bring with it.
The more I'm doing these quick in-game assets(primarily for temporary use until I have a better idea of which direction I want to head), the more I'm thinking about possibly going towards an isometric view or something of the sorts.
At this point irregardless of what I land on for the actual perspective of in-game objects, it seems like it's going to make a lot of sense to get more familiar with blender and do most of the work there, then finishing/supplementing with Photshop. There is planned to be at least 12 different building base types, plus any modularity that comes with adding modules/etc; needless to say I'm not sure if hand-painting every single thing is going to be reasonable).
