What makes Muse very unique among the modern rock bands is its versatility & creativity in writing their guitar & bass lines. Many of their songs will have combination of many great elements like melodic or catchy guitar riff, tasty filler or guitar solo and some would have moments of breakdown-like heavy intro or outro. Let's not forget Christ Wolstenholme too. His fuzzy & heavy bass provides the bedrock support for Matt.

Matt’s merit doesn’t lie in his technical ability, but in his creativity. His riffs are not complex, but they’re fun, emotional and catchy. Same goes with his bass lines. He’s far from being the best, but he knows how to blend genres, innovates with his guitars and effects, and is an excellent performer and entertainer. When you go to a Muse concert, you don’t expect perfection. You expect improvisation and general chaotic fun.

solid choices. I will always be biased towards Origin of Symmetry especially Citizen Erased. They even played it on my birthday which either was a cool and weird coincidence or our group with signs worked. One thing that is super underated is sure Matt is insanely good at writing solid rock riffs but the rest of the band have an amazing fundamental knowledge which allows them to bring out the guitar nicely. It's like a recipe. Knowing what to add and when really brings out the focus. Micro cuts is an amazing example where partway in that riff the bass joins in and the drums play rhythm and focuses on the accents of the main riff. Super talented trio who have the smarts as well as the chops. Hysteria, Psycho, Plug In Baby, Hysteria are all amazing examples of this.
