@@SkHATEy Oh I see! Well, my day job is graphic design, and my hobby is game dev, so I have had a little experience making things look "retro". I use various tools and photobash the background before posterizing and colour indexing it with a dithered Amiga colour pallet. Then I throw it into After Effects with a CRT filter I borrowed. In some instances I may do some rudimentary animation at this point. Honestly the visuals were never meant to be taken too seriously and I sorta just threw them together to give people something to look at and give it a thumbnail.

Green Sun Castle! When I was a kid I could never figure out how to get the gates open until I looked up a guide on how to do it. Crazy times. For a while I was content to just imagine what was inside. What was actually in there was so much worse than my imagination 😅

Since playing the emulated version I see now why my older brother kicked me out his room while he played this section...and why he chose the Princess' Nail as his starting flesh...

I always thought the Nail was serving another princess. Because supposedly that princess is still alive and has a lot of power, not rotting away in a ruin guarded by the few living goblins. But, since we wake up in a graveyard, maybe the Nails are of the goblin princess, from when she was alive.

I used to watch my brother play this as a kid, and after bugging him about it for ages he let me play one one of his saves. This was actually right where he left off so green sun castle was the first thing i did.

@@aVo_001 Apparently they sold out their 6K print in 4 days and are dealing with the large volume of books they need to ship different places. The publisher looks really small, and they're probably just unprepared to handle the (relatively) big hit they have in their hands.

(Spoilers for vermis) Weird how, despite the princess dying, she's still alive. Really, everything in the game is undead in some way. Makes you think why they even bury people? Isn't it easier to just continue living as an undead civilisation? Another weird thing is that the goblin knight is a human. Why would he protect the goblin princess?

Absolutely loving these, I'm currently trying to make a dnd oneshot based around Vermis and I can guarantee your soundtrack will be amazing for building tension and setting the tone of the game when it finally becomes time to play

I want to try to make a full rpg campaign to play for a while. I'd need to make some sort of story in the same setting, but change the plot as I don't think the book's plot really works for a multiplayer adventure.

what do you think the chances are of someone trying to turn this into an actual game?

I have thought a lot about it. What sort of game it would look like, mechanically and aesthetically. I'd love to do it, but even small games are quite an undertaking, and Vermis is already vast in scope, going by guide I. So it really depends what you class by "actual game". Something Itch.io or demo scale? Inevitable. Something more developed and playable? Depends. Something spiritually inspired by Vermis and legally distinct, perhaps. Personally if I were to do any kind of project I'd want Plastiboo on board, and by extension that means Hollow Press, so it all starts to get complicated. Of course, if you want a game to happen, then Vermis first needs to become a bigger thing, for the right people to take notice.

There's already an RPG-Maker looking demo on GameJolt I saw recently, so an attempt has already been made. I spoke about this on another comment section but tbh I really think if Vermis were to take a playable form, it'd benefit by being a tabletop rpg, sort of frees it from a lot of the issues and challenges that come with game dev and being trapped by the source material.
