Imagine being born in such a world. Your parents likely did not love one another, but merely sought a brief and oh-so-fleeting escape from the grim horror of the world in each other. Tragedy likely struck your family when you were young, and you would be the most fortunate of fortunates to even be aware whether or not a single one of your parents is even alive. The gods are dead. There is no one to pray to. No one to hear pleas for mercy or cries for justice. No one to smile down on any mortal, no one to comfort the weary or bring hope to the world. There is no great evil to oppose or defeat. There is no mastermind or source of corruption that, once removed, will cure the world of its grave state. The world is merely dying and rotting, as a cadaver does when it has expired. There is nothing that can be done. Everyone is merely a single cell in a rotting body, waiting for their turn to waste away. Here, apathy is a virtue, and courage a vice. Nihilism comes as naturally to all as breathing, but no great violence fills the land, because despair reigns here. Wrath is for the young, and in this world everyone is born ancient and ready to pass on. Vermis is the distilled essence of regret, sorrow, and nostalgia. If one was to take the emotional experience of a person in their twilight years with a life full of regrets and mistakes behind them and give it life and form as a world unto itself, the result would undoubtably be Vermis. I love it more than can possibly be healthy.

theres a neat lil secret in his fight that if you use illusions you can sometimes make an image of the goblin princess, and if you get him to strike it then banish it right after he'll loose all will to fight! can even do this in the first phase and skip this one... but why would you want too when this is such a banger

I did the The Colossal Thrones from Vermis II, but I guess I just don't find I get the same level of inspiration from 2. It reads more like a series of short encounters (still great with brilliant art). I might do Agerutt though!

I dont know if you're running it on an emulator or not, but In my lost old glory run I used the Unbreakable Path sword from the lost paladin in the swamp and the Ring of Singing Fire after the dream sequence in the flutewood forest to light the sword on fire and defeat the knight by just using the fast attack speed of the sword and the fire damage effect the ring gives to kill the knight. Im pretty sure you can equip both items as a wandering angel too

What? This OST is for Vermis, Ars Magica is a tabletop role-playing game set in 'Mythic Europe'. Very different things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Kanezeran

@@vermisgood A common misconception. Ars Magica doesn't actually exist as a game. It's mostly marketing for an unrealized game and some "fan mixes." If you actually read the books, you will notice that Ars Magica is not actually playable. Also "Mythic Europe" was a meme back in the 90s, long story.

I've always imagined the gameplay of vermis to be that of a game like Fear and Hunger, or like Balder’s Gate. For some parts of the game you view the world from above, other times the game presents illustrations and images.

I've noticed a lot of people picture Vermis as a PS1 game or 90's CRPG. Personally I feel like the art in the book points to an older generation than the likes of Balders gate or King's Field. I picture it as an 80's text based rpg like Colossal Cave Adventure just based on how the art doesn't look like any kind of screen shot you would normally see in a game guide. But that's the beauty of Vermis. People can interpret/ associate it with any game that makes the most sense based on their own experience.

The first time I fought this boss i knew he was going to be tough... the stomping and roar at the start of the fight was epic. I died to him so many times I almost smashed my parents Gateway computer keyboard, but after like 50 attempts i finally downed him and it was so satisfying.
