Live jam with my new Vermona Perfourmer MKII. Still learning my way around this thing, but loving it so far. Full setup details below.
The melody lines are the first three voices of the Perfourmer processed through a Strymon El Capistan and an Eventide Space pedal; the bass line is the fourth voice of the Perfourmer through a Strymon Deco. Percussion is provided by an Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 MKII with some saturation and subtle widening added by Soundtoys Decapitator and Microshift.
I'm using my Yamaha Reface CP to write the melodies and my Korg NanoKontrol Studio to control Ableton Live's transport and track arm functions. Audio is recorded in real time via Audacity.

I did not know that Vermona's perfumer was so good, I was surprised by the wonder of the sound, it is almost hypnotic another synthesizer that I sign up for my future study ; congratulations great editing job

@Sicoliric being a owner of the MK2 myself I agree with you. The MK2’s VCO’s & VCF’s have a great sound. @Medard F. Great work. The verb sounds lush and the sequence is even better. Keep up the great work my friend. I have been experimenting with the MK2 and have been very happy with results. Peace from L.A.

So lovely, the Perfourmer sounds amazing. Were you playing any keys to change the melody (ie higher notes) or just tweaking away at a repeating sequence? At times it felt like it deviated a bit from the main pattern and was layered to give some nice variance.
@medardfischer
@medardfischer 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! I'm a huge fan of yours and I appreciate you taking the time to listen (and the kind words). Yes, I was trying to add variation to the melody by alternatively overwriting the original arpeggio line and just jamming over top without recording. You can also add interesting variation with the Perfourmer by reassigning midi channels on the fly. In this case, I was occasionally adding or dropping voices out of the midi channel assigned to the main melody, thereby forcing a reallocation of the voices, which gave some additional movement (although with somewhat unpredictable/chaotic results at times!).

Beautiful work Medard! Quick question, with random sequencing abilities in different play modes of the Perfourmer, do you tend to program each midi note separately your self or run Arpeggiators with chords? What would you say is your favorite mode to play perfourmer? Roman
@medardfischer
@medardfischer 3 жыл бұрын
FlyWorx Drone & Video Services Thanks very much for listening! If I want something more predictable/controlled, I tend to program each voice on a separate midi track. But to me the real beauty of the synth is using all four voices on the same midi track and having a pattern or held arpeggio “round robin” through them. It’s definitely more chaotic when playing live (particularly if you’ve pitched up/down some of the voices) but it is really rewarding to hear a sequence or arp (especially a syncopated melody line, ie other than a multiple of 4) cycle through voices with different parameters. I always loved this about the Mono/Poly and wanted a modern synth that can do the same. The Perfourmer does it beautifully. The A4 does it exceptionally well also (plus with parameter locks) but there’s no contest between them for “vibe”. The Perfourmer is a serious contender for the most beautiful sounding synth I own - much more characterful than the A4. So, long-winded way to say my favorite play mode is probably M2.

That’s what I needed to hear. I’m putting my order in thank you. I received my Vermona Drm1few days ago and I love it’s analog depth. Love all my elektron gear as we all do, but this company has that extra something. Their gear just looks cool and sounds so warm. Great performance

Hi there! Thanks very much for listening! The FX are a Strymon Deco on the bass and El Capistan + my Eventide Space pedal on the other three synth lines. The drums are via my Elektron Machinedrum MKII.

@@medardfischer Hey Medard, can I ask how you were sending three channels two those effects? Was it via an external mixer? And are you running the bass effects via the insert fx on the channel?
@medardfischer
@medardfischer 4 жыл бұрын
Alex Macfarlane Hi Alex - Thanks very much for listening! The top three voices/channels are being sent by the main stereo out on the Perfourmer into Ableton via my audio interface. From there they are sent back out on an external effects send/return loop to pick up the delay + reverb. The fourth voice (bass) is separated by using its insert/out jack as an individual output and running it through my Deco into a separate channel on my interface. Then mixed with the melody/percussion in Ableton.

Beautiful ! How you sequence it ?
@medardfischer
@medardfischer 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for listening and sorry for the slow reply! It's sequenced in Ableton. I had Ableton running with the loop function on and was using the Korg nanoStudio to toggle the record function on and off; so writing/overwriting a midi sequence on the fly or just jamming over top. Audio was recorded via Audacity simultaneously in realtime.
