Could those converted gas fixtures have been installed at a later date? Natural gas *still* isn't available on most farms & propane wasn't common until fairly recently. I'm wondering if those gas fixtures were purchased as "antiques", converted to electricity & then installed. (Perhaps in the 1990's when they were popular & still inexpensive & easy to find as salvage.). Lots of old farmhouses in my area have installed antique electric & converted gas light fixtures, even though electricity wasn't available until after WWII. (I'm proudly guilty of doing this, myself. lol) I'm Canadian so I can't speak for Texas, but up here, kerosene lamps (with or without) "Aladdin mantles" were the ubiquitous farm lighting until electricity arrived.
