Vernias, I think you should give Mario Party 2 another shot. I know it sounds odd, but I think one reason you didn’t get that many stars is because of the board that was chosen. Western Land is huge, so it takes forever to get to the next star. If the next star appears on the other side, you’re just not getting it. Oddly enough, I think you should try Space Land, which is WAY better than the Superstars version. In MP2, getting chased by both Whomp and Snifit Patrol pushes you into the DIAGONAL path, so you won’t get stuck on the outside part of the board like in Superstars! However, this also means the Bowser Laser is shot more often, but it least you don’t have to retread the same path! If you play all the boards, you unlock the secret Bowser Land board, which I think is the best in the game! Please give MP2 another shot!

On the subject of Hidden Blocks: MP2 puts two Hidden Blocks down on the map at the start of the game, one with coins and one with a star. Whenever a player collects one of these blocks, it gets moved to a new tile on the map. This means there is always a hidden star somewhere on the map, it just bounces around. MP3 works almost identically, it just adds a third hidden block with random items. Starting with MP4 the mechanics get tweaked more and stop being as predictable as a result; 4/5 use a single hidden block that rolls between coins/stars when you find it, DS adds a Ztar as a random punishment (nothing says FUN like losing a star), Super adds a spinning roulette wheel to determine your prize, and Superstars is random with stars more likely the worse you're doing.

Boo is fixed in Mario Part 1 ONLY. Boo in Mario Party 2 works similar to Superstars, but in MP2 you have to pay 5 coins to steal coins from other players. To compensate for paying a fee for stealing coins, MP2 makes Boo steal MORE than he does in Superstars! You still lose less coins for mashing A, but you’ll always lose at least 10.

Mystery Land is the most luck dependent/annoying board in MP2. You really have no control over where you go there. But ironically, it has the most strategy. Skeleton Keys are awesome there and long-term planning will pay off most times if you are good at it. And no. Staying in the Boo island is not going to be your instant win button.
