So far I've only learned the Tonus Peregrinus, do you think that would be appropriate for chanting the LOBVM?

I think that would be wonderful. The vast majority just read the Office. Though there are official tunes in the Antiphonale Romanum, there's often some local variation. The Tonus Peregrinus would be great as a baseline while you pick up the tunes. Better than a complete monotone.

I'm Australian. I sometimes get told I have an English accent, which makes sense as I have family from there. The accents are close though.

Kiwis pronounce their e's kinda like ee. So instead of saying bed, they say something like "beed". That's the only difference that I can hear between the accents, there might be more though.
