This video was quite awesome to watch, and I didn't know who he was. I guess Gabriel is a good polyglot, he's experienced many ups and downs throughout his way obviously, just like any other language learner. Veronika is so confident speaking in English despite not being her native language; her accent is so cool that she can easily be mistaken for a native speaker. As for me, I can only speak and manage English and Spanish as my primary languages. There are still also so many unfamiliar things in both of them for me to take in. I already speak fluent English because I've been learning it for more than six years, and I'm still working on it. Moreover, I still brush up on my overall language skills. We all know that there are lots of challenges to overcome in the long run. I feel that I wouldn't be able to learn additional languages for now owing to my limited brain's capacity for developing new skills and absorbing plenty of information, including language learning. By the way, I think anyone can learn anything new, language learning is no exception, no matter how old we are.

I read Fluent Forever. It is a Helpful book 📖. Not stated. To maintain many languages, a language learner should at least read in the target languages. Footnote. I do have a family of polyglots. Both parents speak 3 languages fluently. Other relatives speak more than 3! 🤯 As for me, I speak Spanish 🇪🇸, French 🇫🇷, German 🇩🇪 and Tagalog 🇵🇭. The European 🇪🇺 languages were easier to learn once my professor taught me and the class some Latin. 🇻🇦. Tagalog is recent for me.

Thank you veronika ❤ I am so confused about English vocabulary 😢 and I listen to podcasts everyday but there’s a lot of English vocabulary in the podcast that I don’t know the meaning, and when I look them up in a dictionary I don’t understand and I feel so sad 😞 so can you tell me how can I solve this problem ? And should I translate new English words to my native language or just learn them with English definition??! ❤

I was also feeling the same, but now I list vocabulary as the words that I need in conversation and the vocabulary that is often used (it's called active and passive vocabulary). So first just learn the words that you need the most and learn the words with more time, that you are infrequently gonna use. I guess this may help you 😊.

It looks like you don’t even know your native language, since you don’t understand the meaning in translation... you’re probably still tiny, so start with children’s books, everything should be clear there🙂

If you find that the podcast you're listening to has a lot of new vocabulary, it means that the level of this podcast is too difficult for you and you should start with something easier :) The key is find the material that is a LITTLE BIT challenging.

I think you did a wonderful interview! However, I disagree with your statement that you do not need to be good at something to be valuable. If you analyze that statement, it makes no sense, I believe what you were trying to say, instead, is that we should be understanding with people if they are not 100% competent or confident when doing something. Understanding involves compassion, but it is absolutely true that incompetency makes you less valuable than those that can do something well. Tough words but true.

You can't compare how children learn their first language to how adults learn their second language. Children spend thousands and thousands of hours learning their first language in total immersion; adults can't do it. When you learn a second language there is interference from the first language.
