What are great serious movies with a comedian as lead? The first one that jumps into my mind is Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
@DW.Strangeman9 ай бұрын
@VerowakReacts I leave a comment on this film all the time. I worked with Robin Williams on a film and when people say "never meet your hero, they'll always let you down" doesn't apply to him... He was such a gentleman and great person. You should watch 'Midnight Caller', 'Insomnia' or 'One Hour Photo' to see him play very different from most films he's cast in. Loved the reaction, by the way
@stevesheroan41319 ай бұрын
@@TerryNationB7Ironically, I think Jim Carrey playing a comedian (Andy Kaufman) in Man on the Moon is probably his most serious and arguably best work. I couldn’t stand Andy Kaufman and therefore didn’t like the movie that much, but Jim Carrey was astonishing in the role IMO. Worth the watch just for his performance.

Such a remarkably well written film by Damon and Affleck - their Oscar was well-deserved. And at a such a young age. Really their best work. Damon’s performance here as well as in some of his other early stuff like Courage Under Fire shows his true acting chops much more than his later mostly popcorn flick work. Much the same can be said for Affleck. Williams was made to play this role and again a well deserved Oscar here. If you want more of him: “Awakenings” with DeNiro; and “Good Morning Vietnam.” Just now realizing Rip from Yellowstone (Cole Hauser) is in this as Billy.

I wasn't aware of some of the information about the movie that you added. That was interesting and adds to the appreciation that I already had for the movie. However, the thing that I really liked about this reaction was just what a genuinely nice person you seem to be. Thanks for that positivity, and I hope life goes well for you.

Today it is so easy for others to find this movie. It is always near the too of whatever list you search. I semi-randomly picked this movie one evening while stuck in northern Atlanta for a class or convention. My first name being Bill which like Will is a nickname for William influenced my decision a little. But I knew nothing other than the title when I picked it out of the 10 or 12 showing near my hotel. I have seen it enough to quote most lines from memory.

It's great when we find those movies that have so much rewatchability

Love your reaction, this is one of the best movies ever, covers so much, from wincing, to laughing to crying and Robin Williams was the best part of it. Matt Damon's crying scene just blew me away. Keep up the great content and stay safe.

So that’s when talented individuals come together and create a masterpiece. This of course is one of them. I’ve seen this movie several times but it always gets me emotional.❤️💥

This movie shows what a great dramatic actor Robin Williams is. If you want to see another brilliant dramatic Robin Williams performance, I cannot more highly recommend The World According to Garp.

That's the first time I hear of that one! I will 100% be watching more Robin Williams

Crazy how the writer made his character that he also played a secret genius. Just exploding subtly and nuance

The best movie Robin is in other than this one is "World According to Garp". That was probably his first movie I would guess. Good Morning Vietnam is also decent. Haven't seen Dead Poets.

Robin Williams ....best performance as lead actor in any movie ever made: Dead Poet's Society. Lucky you to see this for the first time.

Dead Poets Society, Robin Williams best role. A must see.

Awesome reaction Vero! Good Will Hunting is one of my absolute favorite films, so I'm glad you enjoyed it as well. If you want to see Robin Williams in more dramatic roles, check out What Dreams May Come, Awakenings, and The Fisher King. If you want to see him as you've never seen him before, check out One Hour Photo. He's also pretty good in Insomnia with Al Pacino. Finally, Good Morning Vietnam is largely a comedy but it has some great dramatic moments as well so you get the best of both worlds.

Wonderful reaction. It's hard to watch Robin in the scenes where he struggled with mental health. Sometimes art imitates reality. RIP Captain my Captain.

Mr.Williams was cast in quite of a lot of dramatic roles, most comedic in nature. I'm taking the limelight out of the prominent ones of the ninetees except 'The Fisher King' (1991) with Jeff Bridges; Im not quite sure why there's near no proper reviews for that one! Then there's 'World's Greatest Dad' by Bobcat Goldthwait from 2009, one of Williams latest movies and my most favourite one is 'The World according to Garp' (1982) by a novel from John Irving which also stars John Lithgow and Glenn Close!
