I came to add a comment about why is Shamar Joseph batting at #11 but it seems a few people already share that sentiment. Each time I have seen him bat he demonstrates the skills of a class batsman. He is definitely an all rounder and not a number 11.

As a west Indian i really feel for our bowlers.. They put this game on a platter for their team on a pitch that if we are honest is not 17 wicket on a day one pitch.. its hurts to see the ongoing issues with techniques and situational awareness from our batsmen... The bowlers must be exhausted to have to turn around and bowl again.. i wish them all the best for the rest of the game... But what a wonderful organic cricketer Shamar Joseph is I hope he never loses that uncomplicated approach he has to the game

I think the poor technique some of the young WI batters showed is just inexperience with Test type pitches (of which this one is a good one - congratulations to the groundsman). Being able to reliably put the ball over the fence on a dead pitch is no help in handling a seaming new ball. Mind you as an Australian I can say, based on seeing them live on recent tours here, both sides are better at bowling than batting.

@@iceman1125 our test team's record over the past few years has definitely not been inspiring... Hence the lack of support shows in the crowd attendances

Chase had a really good start to his test career , he has about 5 test centuries, lost his form, he repeatedly gets bowled not covering his off stump. It's not that the talent is not there, it's the lack of improvement on the little weaknesses is the real issues

Great to see Holder have a better day: He wanted to be there which was great to see. Markram looked better and wonderful to see Verreyenne in form since Australia. WI fielding needs serious work; bowling was good: Shamar & Seales have been a find, even Motie & Warrican are great for balance, but Hodge will need to bat like Waugh, Athanaze like Ponting, Holder like Gayle and Brathwaite like Taylor and I hope they do...hope springs eternal :-)))
