You need to submit a new order with a condition attached to it. There is no other way.

Nice video. Sounds like Think or Swim may be a better choice if you do lots of conditional orders on multi-leg spreads. Fewer workarounds needed.

Hi Verrillo, you mentioned that post only wont work with combo orders. can you please expain rel+lmt and rel+mkt you posted around 23:33. is there a method where i can use that will just give me the midprice for single or combo based on conditional entry and follow the market. I like the post-only which you explained but that is only for single leg, I do alot of spreads, but sometimes only close one leg , depending on the situation. so if there is a method which will just give me the midprice regardless if its combo or single that would be great. thanks in advance

I do think the only ways to follow the market with a spread trade were shown in this video. The other way would be to write the algorithm yourself or with the help of a coder. You could write in a feature request to IBKR to see if they would add it for spreads.

Hi Verillo Trading, just found your channel. Do you have a video that goes through using and setting up the tws in more detail? For example, when I tried to drag the option contract to the watchlist and right click to buy, it doesn't show up in the same window underneath the contract. So I am not able to right click on the order and create a condition. It could be a simple oversight from my end, but I am not sure. Hoping for some beginner guidance. Thank you so much!

Do you have a video on the colors you have on your option chain bids/asks? what do those colors tell you?

The colors don't say much. What I would be more concerned with is current trade volume and the current order book for an option. Neither are shown just in an options chain.

They do have ATR, I am not sure about Relative Volume. When you open a chart you select Edit -> Studies, and you can add indicators from there.

If I buy an SPX put at 5830 strike with a fill price of 12.50 and want to set a condition to exit when the price hits 5810 or less, is there a way to hold winners? At the moment I just set the MKT order once the underlying hits the price target. I understand with post-only it might only give me a better fill price. Is there a trailing limit version where it doesn't exit as long as the underlying price keeps going lower beyond the target strike price condition?

I don't know of anything that does this in native TWS. I'd recommend using options calculations to forecast what the options price should be when the market reaches your target.

Yes you can achieve this in Sierra. Though if it's just a simple price condition, probably better off just doing it in IBKR.

I dont trade options very often , but maybe TWS always defaults to creating a BUY of whatever the strategy is. So when you create the STRAT TO CLOSE , it creates the reverse order type, which when bought, closes the trade. Not really odd if thats what is happening.
