I was going to ask if you kept the gold leaf that falls off but you answered the question as I was typing it. We use it also in our scrapbooks and cards and I keep the rub offs. I have a jar that I mixed the 3 kinds in and love that look when you are doing something a bit grungy. Lol. Don’t sneeze into the gold leaf pot either. It makes a huge mess! Do not ask how I figured that out. I also do the same as you and hold my breath as I craft. I don’t know why that is. Beautiful work. Thanks for making videos for us to watch.

Yes it's lots of fun working with metal leaf, but the only problem is the "holding the breath" bit! 😁 I'm sure we don't really have to! 😁 I like the idea of mixing the colours to give a grungy look!

So happy to have watched this video. I received a container of Gold Leaf as a gift and wasn't sure how to make it work on doll furniture. THANK YOU for demonstrating how to apply it! I won't be so nervous about using it now. Beautiful piece you painted. It is going to be fun watching you decorate the wonderful Ashcroft House.
@RichMiniatures Жыл бұрын
You are so very welcome Pamela! 🙏 I'm glad you were interested in the gold leaf. If I had known, I would have given you a tip when using it...use a soft brush to apply the leaf, after you have put the size on with a normal brush. And if your leaf is already in small pieces, brush the side of your cheek, quickly (as if you're applying rouge) then when you touch the brush to the leaf, the leaf will magnetize to the brush. So you can pick it up easily with the brush, and then place it on the furniture with ease! I hope this helps 🙏

What a beautiful piece! I love that shade of blue! I'm looking forward to watching your (Georgie's) palace come together. Watching your videos is like sitting and crafting with a friend, and I think that's why I enjoy them so much. It's also a treat to see John's houses, you are both very talented. I enjoy everything you do, it's never boring, and I am always excited to see a new video (although I don't always get to them right away). Right now I am drinking hot cocoa, it's only 12 degrees F here in North Texas and we are frozen solid! The Polar Vortex got us again. Anyway, hugs to you, John, Georgie, and Nigel, stay safe, healthy, and warm. 🥶🥶🥶🥶

Hi Richard, wow….I love this table!!! The soft blue & gold leaf on that stunning raised fretwork is perfect together. BEAUTIFUL. A lot of my furniture is painted in blue/ gray shades & has been such a joy for me to work on. I’m yet to tackle gold leaf, but am very inspired now! I remember when you mentioned me on your channel, I showed it to my husband & he was very impressed!!!! I recently won a Christmas Room in UK Minimum World competition, & I was so thrilled to receive so many likes & some lovely comments on their site. I know how much these comments must mean to you, as mine meant the world to me & gave me so much encouragement. My husband was as excited about it as I was. 😀 Look forward to seeing you create more of your masterpieces!!!!! 💖

This is just so charming! You give me such delicious ideas. I'm building a French chateau in the Baroque style. The rooms are 1:12 scale *but* everything the 1:24 scale dolls interact with such as doors, staircases, furniture, are also in 1:24 scale. It's a dizzying mix, but so far, the results make my heart happy. You've shown me that I need more gold leaf in my life LOL Thank you!

Julie! I was surprised to see your comment. I actually have my first pack of nail art, and it was laying just out of camera and I was planning on putting a couple in the top section of the mirror but the colours just didn't go completely! So I decided not to use them in the video! I'd bought a box of stuff,and these were in the box and I thought what a good idea! Hello Richard and John
@Rev.Dr.Vanderbilt4778 Жыл бұрын
Hello , I absolutely love your videos. My husband has bought me my first dollhouse and I'm undertaking it. Just recently my best friend me an unpainted MDF classical dollhouse and I was wondering do I need to use special MDF primer and paint? It's all so new to me and I am learning. All my best from Ireland and I sent you health and happiness ❤
@RichMiniatures Жыл бұрын
That's so nice of you to say! Sending a warm hug to you in Ireland! 🙏 When I start with MDF you can easily use a good primer first, so it soaks into the MDF and gives a base coat. I usually use Dulux white primer. Then any paint will go over the top of that. You can use any emulsion paints really. On my video of the pink dollhouse commission, I used two main paint colours for the outside. A pink and a green. If you like them at any time, I did mention on the video that they were two colours I'd had made especially by B&Q. So if you go to their paint mixing counter and tell them they have a profile on their computer under the name of Wackiwear, they will find the two colours. One I named "Suffolk Pink" and the other is named "John Boy Green" (as I'd got the colour from one of his t-shirts). But their brand of paints are ideal to use. I hope this gives you inspiration to create your own special house! Also in some of my videos, I show that you can change the layouts of rooms by putting in false walls. That makes your house, your own. Anyway, hope you enjoy watching and enjoy "creating"! xx

@wackiwearminiatures thank you so much , I will keep you in prayers. I have a million questions and you have been the only person to answer thus far. Thank you so much 💓 you're such a professional at the craft and the best youtube channel on here I would recommend to my friends. Just bought myself a tin of mdf primer. I was thinking 🤔 about the chalk paint would it be OK? Sending you hugs xx
@RichMiniatures Жыл бұрын
@@Rev.Dr.Vanderbilt4778 thank you, that's very kind of you to do that for me! 🙏 Chalk paint is fine, if you want a very Matt finish. It comes in handy if you wanted to paint any furniture and give it a "French" style shabby chic look. But if you want more of a satin sheen to your work, then normal paint from places like B&Q are fine to use.if you ask at the paint mixing counter, you can choose anything from the paint charts and they can mix it in what ever size and finish that you want. Also, if you just want paint for small projects, you can buy little pots of acrylic paints from art shops.
