Jeff, thanks for the shout-out for Depot, you are the man. I guess you didn’t want to really share how many digits and commas there were behind those $ signs on those checks because your rainfall was down. Thanks Buddy! You and your family are great!

I was working as a pit mechanic on a 356 Porsche racing SCCA back in the 70s. We were in Colorado, the next pit over had a big block Corvette that the guy had just bought, the engine had dry sump oil system. We had already qualified for our event, they fired the Vet to warm it up and suddenly no oil pressure of course panic set in. After a while my owner sent me over to see if I could give them a hand, well in the dry sump coming from the engine was O'Berg in line filter, I asked could that be the problem? "Oh no no has to be the pump or something" So he had a buddy bring up his spare engine from Alb, they spent most of the night pulling the first motor and installing the new one fired it up the same thing "Oh no we don't have time to swap it to a wet sump" I had, had enough, walked over pulled out my two Chevrolet wrenches ( Adjustable to the rest of us) and while the great minds were still running around like chickens I took the inline filter apart took the outer tube slapped the open end onto my hand a out popped the screen covered silicone from them putting the oil pan back on after they inspected after purchase of the car. Cleaned it out put it back together. Told him to fire it up sure enough great oil pressure.

You can always judge how good a mechanic is by their use of two things. 1. A hammer. And 2. their silicone use or misuse.
