THANK YOU for this!!! I've been getting better at my builds, just earned darkwood and am experimenting with stone houses for medieval styles....but those roofs looked so hodgepodge and I could never understand how you guys got around that. The key....don't attach roof pieces to the base and pay attention to odd and even/structure support. This was immensely helpful! You inspire me to keep playing just for the buildings haha

Glad I could help! congrats on unlocking darkwood, you builds should be more interesting now!😀

Thank you! Always amazed what you can do in valheim. If you place a door temporarily in one of the woodpanels/walls you should have a snapping point just on top of the wall, that should save you manual placing with shift.

Brilliant Thanks V, found you via Kysen's and the Ravenheim server you have, and am am looking forward to having a look through your build videos. One thing I have really struggled with is the transition from stone to wood. I find using the basic wood frames to build and get things to line up and thinks its easier to manage, but getting creative with the stone seems to be a mental switch I struggle with. Even stopped playing for a bit cos I couldn't figure a basic stone gatehouse design to keep mobs out of my base - I wanted it to to allow me to stand and shoot on but didn't want flat and didn't want to use thatch again. Finally tried stone steps as a roof .... boom. Been playing solo since launch but never got to Bonemass... yet. Loving Ravenheim, would recommend it to anyone - the humour you guys have together is so fun to watch Thanks for the content

Very clever stuff. If I may offer a small bit of constructive criticism, what you're teaching is incredibly high quality, but it feels like you just kind of winged the video (I mean obviously not totally, since you have pre-built bases for the houses). A script might help you stay a little more on track and keep the presentation clearer and more well-ordered. I'll definitely be looking at your other videos, though!

Or make multiple bases, and take time to build them. There are obvious stages in the game and building a structure in each stage is a seemingly good way to do it. It allows time to actually use the sandbox aspect of the game, while still allowing alot of adventuring and resource hunting.

On the angled roof... I can't place the final two beams that cross each other... they just collapse. What am I missing? :( ... The structure is 5 tiles wide, just like in your example. I even placed both of them really quickly assuming they would support each other, they do for a while, but eventually still collapse.

make sure you place the core wood for support on each side corners
