The 2024 Singapore Grand Prix will be remembered for a number of reasons, if not for what happened on track. Instead, it will be remembered for what happened off track. The race is likely to be the last Grand Prix Daniel Ricciardo will ever race in, with the driver himself essentially confirming he was going to be replaced before the next race. Ricciardo also confirmed that his last lap fastest lap, which took a point off Lando Norris, was done with Verstappen’s drivers championship challenge in mind, infuriating Zak Brown who has often complained about the two teams working together. It was the FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who created the most controversy, after his request for the drivers to stop swearing on team radio led to Max Verstappen getting community service as a punishment for swearing in an official press conference. What ensued was endless ridiculing by the rest of the grid and some incredible statements from Verstappen. Today, I’ll check out the controversy that has Lewis Hamilton defending Max, so, don’t go anywhere.
