So true!! The single barrel was terrible and that sucks because of the money I paid for it. I had the regular rye several times before buying the SB and I enjoyed each bottle. Your review was 100% correct

Great comparison. I had hoped the standard Rye might do a little better. I almost only drink straight, so I'm not looking for a mixer . Also, very disappointed the SB wasn't worth enjoying. Oh well. They can't all be winners.

Good video and I agree 100% on this bottle. However; the single barrel program overall with Jack is better than Old No 7. And the barrel proof is great

JD rye is the cheapest rye you can get in Finland, 39.9€/0.7l. I like that in old fashioned 👍🏻 Also the best rye ive tasted 🙂

i did the exact same review home between the 2. I gotta say the single barrel tastes & smells a lot better then the other one. The single barrel i got was very refined and flavorful. Clearly notes can change from barrel to barrel i guess.

Drinking the JD bonded rye tonight, it's good. My favorite rye so far is a JD single barrel store pick my local store did. It is FANTASTIC!

Thanks for the review Bill! I know I might get rotten tomatoes thrown at me for saying this, but I find Jack Daniels to be overpriced. It seems that they put more emphasis into the marketing than the whiskey. I understand that most people are not sipping the No. 7 neat, but in my area its priced at the same level as Makers or Wild Turkey 101. As for the rye, haven't tried them, but for high 40s and mid 20s respectively you can get Pikesville Rye and Rittenhouse, with higher proofs. Maybe these are made to appeal to die hard JD fans and/or people who are being a gift and just know the brand? Either way, thanks again for the review, Cheers!

Hi Bill! What an amazing story, JD review and just 40 comments. Did you try JD BiB 100 proof? Probably I got a weak batch but the quality is close to harsh corn moonshine. I payed a few bucks more for than for regular JD N7.

UPDATE: I was wrong! After tasting more rye offerings from other sources, this is a very unique selection. I did buy more, three more at this time. This is a taste that is being a classic bourbon, but made from straight rye blend, and not a straight corn blend. So yes it is not a classic rye flavor, but that is what the regular JD Rye (45%) is for. I AGREE! As of 2019 / 2020; the single barrel bottles are NOT worth buying. Now if you are reading this several years from now, I hope Brown-Foreman has changed the selection process. This I would recommend buy a pour at a bar after 2021, and see if you like it. At that price I will not be replacing my bottle. I would advise you to just buy the regular JD Barrel Proof instead. An alternative to the JD Rye, but staying with Brown-Foreman, is the Old Forester Rye 100 proof (NOT a BIB). I have bought several bottles of that over the years, and I have bought only a single bottle of the JD SB Rye.

I finally drank Glenmorangie Signet that I purchased 12:22:2019 ; good drink. Worth price? Debatable. I don’t feel hoodwinked, but don’t plan on buying more. If cost were 20$ per bottle I would buy cases. 230$ that I paid, I would 100% recommend paying up on that over 160$ JW Blue Label... I drank it as a celebration, so good mood... .. no overwhelming alcohol smell during nosing. I drank it neat, happy with that. Tried adding 5 drops of water and that really soured the taste for me. Based on that I don’t think I’ll try with ice... good drink straight up. Using your scale, I rate this a Try It
