I haven't ever been drawn in by this kind of Top 40 Pop/ Metal style of heavy music. It's not that I don't like pop in metal, or even pop music in general - it's just that what I've heard of this subgenre always sounded saccharine and forced. But Versus Me is the first band I've heard in this style that I genuinely enjoy. I loved last year's album, "Continuous," and _Heavy Breathing_ was one of my favorite songs of 2019. Maybe it's because Versus Me's production leans more heavily towards "pop" that I enjoy their music more than similar bands. The way they combine the genres sound more natural to me for some reason, and they achieve the "catchiness" of pop music without it feeling corny or cheesy. This is a great band, and I hope they get more ears for their art!

I read this over probably like three times. This is an insanely awesome and well worded compliment. I'm glad we have you as a fan. I think it's that we work backwards. Sometimes a song comes out way heavy when I put the song together then we track all the guitar, etc. By the time we take it into the studio and kind of rearrange things or do complete rewrites it's SO different. We write strong metal rock songs first and add in the pop as a texture or layer. We never start with "how can we write a pop song?"
