I am an older 80's hard rock person, who taught myself the electric guitar at 14 (perhaps that's why my son can play anything he picks up at 31yrs) and that is all I listen to VERY loud music. Both of my kids were raised the same way and it was great! Until my son snuck this song into my playlist!! I came here because I have not heard of Versus me and i was going to see them open up for Kingdom Collapse tonight. Well, I just got home and I have to say that I am ABSOLUTELY blown away by how good these guys are live. The chemistry and energy they were putting out was polarizing! Not only were they pumping out a great live show, they were equally and genuinely great human beings. Talking to them while buying some merch was refreshing to the bullshit that we see in the world today. These are the guys that you go to bat for in life! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CATCH THEM LIVE WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR TOWN! Thanks for a great night fellas!

I love that this doesn't feel like "I'm pinning the blame on you". While there's plenty of "f- you I'm this way because of you" songs, this one is so good. Musically, the bridge and chorus are a stroke of genius. Content: This speaks to the human condition. There are so many dimensions explored. We live in a society that sees imperfections as fallacies... like there is something wrong with making mistakes. We just try to live up to the expectations of others and are told over and over again that we have disappointed them. I have an autistic daughter and there is nothing wrong with her. The medical community has programmed us to believe that it is a sickness. We all are different in one way or another. Does that mean that our differences are symptoms of illness? Since we don't meet the standard of perfection, we are less? I don't think so. My daughter has a genius with being creative with her hands... painting, jewelry, crafts, anything. But she was always fighting her entire life to be seen as valuable to the school populous. All her efforts of kindness were for not. School staff verbally and emotional abused her. Nothing she could do would make them see her as anything but flawed. On another level, people end up living in toxicity as our norm and find comfort in the coping mechanisms that we develop. Just to change and try for better... to move through a door of the unknown is petrifying. A family member of mine lives this way. A life of abuse and she tries to move forward but it is so scary to change since she has been in it for so long. I am also reminded of my parents. Always arguing. Father an alcoholic and gone most of the time. My mom trying to take care of three children. Being broken physically from having to work construction in the '80s. Nothing they did or could do would fix the relationship that was unfixable. Even when she had to convince him to come back because she could no longer work, there was no peace in the house. You have spoken truth... a truth that people are too scared to admit because they would have to face their imperfections as they see them as faults instead of opportunities for growth. Keeping digging deep. Keep being the voice for the people who just can't speak up for themselves. They all need to hear and feel that there is hope and that it is okay to be human.
