For my season finale for my 2nd year of my Versus Series I will be pitting Devil May Cry against Final Fantasy as two of the greatest swordsmen in all of gaming will take on each other. As the son of sprada Vergil will take on the One-Winged Angel Sephiroth to see which combatant would walk away the winner.

I would have thought the word exchange would be like this: Seph. - in a cold voice "play times over." Verg. - in a cool calculated voice "if you insist fallen angel." That would probably have made seph. more pissed but it would also fit with verg. as to how seph. looks to him. One thing I don't think you mentioned was Vergil's regenerative abilities. If Vergil gets a good strike in, its gonna fuckin hurt. If Sephiroth gets a good strike in, hes gotta do it a few dozen more times before it really starts to have an effect on Vergil. Vergil's powers were specifically designed to take on other swordsman. His only real weakness comes from his own mental state rather than his techniques or abilities. Vergil is my favorite character ever, but its hard to find good match-ups for him. He either entirely outclasses them or gets obliterated by reality warping Gods.

i think you never played a dmc game. Anyways ive played all dmc games and dissidia and kingdom hearts to know that sephiroth would lose but not by much. Vergil can easily decapitate any manifestation of sephiroth while 19 year old Vergil can heal himself from being cut in half while almost dead.

+Tyler Durden I've played 1, 3, and 4, and Vergil STILL can't beat Sephiroth. Yamato couldn't cut Lady's rocket launcher, it had difficulty piercing The Savior (a LIMESTONE statue), and needed significant force to run through Arkham. Furthermore, Yamato was broken in half in DMC4 until Nero started wielding it. Also, Mundus was able to control Vergil and transform him into Nelo Angelo, so Vergil doesn't have that strong of a mind. Vergil is weak to illusions and mental attacks, something Seph can easily exploit. And the reason Vergil healed so quickly after supposedly being "chopped in half," is because his halves weren't seperated

Funny ta think now Vergil would win even faster with his new abilities and showing he could tank Dante's ultimate form and still be ready for a fight at full strength. Plus his added use of Doppleganger would be another nail in Sephiroth's casket as ot comes out very fast, can be indipendant of Vergil's actions and from my own experience will save Vergil should he be caught in attacks if it isnt delt with. Sephiroth's history of not being able to react too new powerful attacks on the fly and his lack of space control against DMC5 Vergil would make the fight a joke. Not to sell Sephiroth short but as you said Vergil just has too many tools, can dictate the fight, and wouldnt allow Sephiroth the luxery of preparing any kind of plan. Having felt how insane the new Vergil is, I can confidently say unless you have a plan Vergil will toy with you before cutting you too shreds.

gninja92 I dunno, I thought they were maybe trying to throw too much into his design with the Kingdom Hearts redesign. Like the red trim on the edges of his coat and turning the bottom of it into something like Batman's cape but greatly exaggerated with the points. The wing however looks great. Ditch the trim, Batman inspired coat and keep the wing and you have a winner. Less is more. Probably why I preferred the Advent Children look as the coat had a minor change in a few buckles added but it was largely unchanged besides that. Also thank god they never tried altering the masamune in Advent Children like Cloud's Buster Sword. While the multi blade thing was alright I thought it maybe cheapened it abit with the gimmicky nature of it.

+James Day vergil can cut through dimensions dimensions with yamato and can attack sephiroth no matter where he is with judgement cut, Beowulf hits with the force of a small supernova, teleportation, telekinesis, summoning, clones, forcefields, etc, vergil is much faster and can dodge light based attacks, and can move so fast that he can't be seen. vergil has this in the bag

Talawrence Ahart Also Vergil can simultaneously perform round trip with force edge, a nonstop, unlimited amount of energy swords, judgement cut multiple times and devil trigger explosion all at the same time plus he's devil triggered after that and at his most pissed off, Vergil can stay in devil trigger form for much longer than usual. He also hardly ever flinches if attacked in this form. He's been known to create invincible energy bubbles, become un-seeable and generate doezens of judgement cuts while healing. He can also do jump cancels to aod in recovery time and by devil may cry 3 he mastered concentration.

I think they are tired of everyone complaining after they did all that research, but with Dante and bayonetta I think old db is back kinda. If the battle looks realistic and good to what's being said and most things used to get ahead in battle or win make sense. then I don't care who wins. Yamato can cut through space itself, makes sense how it made Dante win. deadpool had a carbaniom or whatever it was sword, OK deathstroke had regeneration makes enough sense. I wanted death stroke to win but that made sense.

You presented a great video here my man, it's quite a well-researched battle, I honestly clicked onto this video as soon as it caught my eye, I must extend to you my sincere thanks for going through the research time needed to do this fight, I love both of these characters, and seeing them both in this battle makes me legitimately happy, so kudos to you for doing this one.Though personally, I don't think Screwattack would want to do Vergil vs. Sephiroth as a battle of theirs, as, in my view, Vergil vs. Sephiroth is a fight that could very easily be swapped out for other battles involving both Vergil and Sephiroth respectively, for Vergil, I see Vergil taking on Sesshomaru from InuYasha, and Sephiroth could fight a number of opponents, whether it be Kefka, Griffith from Berserk, or even more uncommon opponents like Gilgamesh from Fate/stay night.As someone who has seen Death Battle develop over the course of a couple of years now, as well as KZbin User MaxOfFewTrades being an official member of the research team, I find it very easy to agree with Death Battle on a number of their battles, although in the past the higher ups above the research team have bent a verdict or two to their whim, this isn't common, since one of their battles (Ratchet and Clank vs. Jak and Daxter) was researched quite thoroughly, additionally, MaxOfFewTrades also stated that he is entering the main core research team, since the old team was disbanded and then reformed with additional members.Additionally, I administrate the Death Battle's Fanon Wiki, so I am constantly around other people who research fights as well, so I'm acquainted with the process needed to fully research a fight, which is why I extend my praise to you for making this video, don't worry, i'm not going to disagree with anyone for thinking Vergil would win here, we all have opinions and we all stick by them, and I am quite looking forward to the first episode of Season 3, since I especially consider Genesis a favourite character of mine, as for Season 2, I am undeniably going to say this battle is the best of the season you've produced as of right now.I look forward to seeing more in the future.

This is really good. And I will just add that although Virgil deserves the win, I think that a couple of things have to be noted about Sephiroth. 1, Sephiroth's movement in wielding his sword can also be too fast for the human eye to see. You did mention that he was fast but you didn't press on how fast. 2, Sephiroth's abilities are, to this day still uncharted and although Sephiroth notably doesn't favour the use of magic abilities he did burn down an entire village at the point of his metal snap. It's not stated how he did it but I doubt he went around to each house with match sticks and gasoline Though he has been defeated by cloud and others, if you read up in Final Fantasy wiki it states that he was for some reason limited or was holding back. After he became evil he developed a tendency to toy with his enemies which is usually his biggest mistake because it gives them a chance to gain the will to fight back harder during the battle like cloud did in both times they fought. That's all I want to say, not being a little bitch about who won. Virgil is fucking amazing!

I like that you made the battle based on how the characters would behave and went into all their abilities and weaponry but, you did seem to mainly focus on some of the abilities from a gameplay sense and not a lore based sense. For example, Vergil can stay in his devil trigger for a lot longer than in gameplay (aside from Super Vergil, who can stay in it indefinitely). The overall power difference between the 2 characters should be noted too. Mundus could literally create pocket dimensions the size of universes and Vergil (if he wasn't worn out when fighting him) could've put up a decent fight against him.

what about heartless angels or black materia and super nova, scintilla,? sephiroth doesn't have much magic? you missed his most crucial moves that were recreated in many other games. what about the 4 elemental stones that acted on their own during the fight against Zack? one of those actually healed him. physical feats and weapons were accurate though, but special abilities was lacking in this. also battle tactics were a little bias. I believe the main reason why people like this match up is because both sephiroth and vergil are cocky lightning speed swordsman who both lack adaptability. like you said, vergil wasn't getting stronger, only changing his weapons and frustrated when the fight prolongs, sephiroth also gets caught off guard when the fight changes stage.

4 years later just came here to tell you something. I read the novels of the Vampire Hunter D and it's still ongoing but unfortunately Vincent is stomped. Don't base yourself on the anime. Let me give you one example. D blitzed an "infinite" distance to cut Matthew (Another powerful Dhampir who was giving him hard time) The sword that D wields is a "negator" meaning that it truly negates anything. Immortality Powers Abilities Skills He's too much for Vincent. Vincent is such a cool looking guy but it's better if he was pitted against someone like Vash The Stampede. Otherwise you're gonna have a city level Vincent fight against a universe level+ character This is D's base form btw. His true power is when he wields the Akashic Records..... I'm not even gonna explain how insanely powerful it is because the moral is.... D is going to kill Vincent with a look (he did this to thousands of old dhampirs sent to hunt him down)

I find it funny that screwattack compared clouds attack strength when they cratered a massive metal surface, they said the force was the equivalent of 1,600 tons of force (give or take a few hundred) then they did a calculation of when vergil killed Beowulf the light beast and split his body in half with just a kick. They said this kick was the equivalent of 720 million Newtons of force which I calculated to be over 10x what sephiroth blocked from cloud. Also if you watch vergil move in game you will see that even in his base form his speed creates multiple after images.

Also there's one thing I noticed about vergil's judgement cut end ability, the instant before vergil dashes you see multiple spectral images of vergil's devil trigger form dash in a cone in front of him. This leads me to think that Vergil doesn't doesn't just create spectral swords but his main ability is to use spectral creations to battle with yamato

This is my second time watching this video. I don't agree with the outcome but I can See Vergil winning then Sephiroth winning. Since Dmc5 it's even more difficult decide who will win Vergil is stronger than ever. Then Sephiroth full power not has ever been full shown...he's never truly been tested. But very entertaining way better than screwattack so many of their vs. Battles make no sense.

Holy smokes, so let me get this out of the way before I forget: I LOVE the fact that you put this fight in Hades' Dimension, thereby cancelling any environmental advantages between the two. That was awesome. (makes sense too since they are both dead cannonically) Second: I at first did not like the idea of the "no healing" aspect, but after thinking about it, it would not matter as Vergil would probably have been fast enough to stop Sephiroth from continuing and by making it so Sephiroth cannot heal (nor Vergil), it makes the fight more interesting. And though I am sad Sephiroth did not win, you made it pretty obvious as to the reasons why. Third: The way I view this fight now is more like taking a character who was built to fight hordes of enemies and has many AOE moves and pitting them against an opponent who is built to fight enemies one on one and demonstrates incredible skill at killing them quickly. Fourth: This makes sense. The fight, the background and even the tactics all make sense. To me, I do not disagree with this outcome. I, in fact, welcome it. I consider it as the outcome were the fight to be held in an actual arena. While the fight that ScrewAttack put up is more of the fight where both characters had everything at their disposal at all times. Your fight is the "common occurence" fight while ScrewAttack's is the fight where "Ultimate 1 vs Ultimate 2". I'm just surprised it took me so long to actually watch this or even see it. This is in fact the first time I even saw your video or heard about you and before I watched this I decided to watch you reaction video first, which actually explained a lot and helped me understand more about why you had this video set up in the way you did. Amazing work dude. I love it!

I like this video, especially that bitch slap comment but I kind of have to disagree with the discussion on Sephiroth's abilities. Sephiroth has been shown to teleport too in gameplay and Crisis Core. He can use telekinesis, cast barriers to increase his defense, inflict various status conditions, heartless angel, which is blockable but can reduce HP to one, but he doesn't use it until at low HP and it's likely a game mechanic bit still a powerful move. He can use slow to reduce his opponent's speed. roosterteeth.com/post/51231613 up until this article I believed Sephiroth wasn't that strong. Disclaimer: this disagreement doesn't in any way affect my enjoyment of this channel. 3TopicsReviewer Vergil seems to teleport with greater efficiency and combat application but I recall Sephiroth doing it multiple times in VII, mostly for intimidation and he does do it multiple times in the Crisis Core boss fight to prepare attacks like draw slash. Like it says in the article I linked he summons multiple large materia to further fuel his magic. This could just be a gameplay only scenario and I am all about mostly using cutscenes to base abilities on but these are very clearly abilities that he uses.
