@@pikeandperch I do believe the rule has changed now where you can release them back in certain places not 100% but I swear I remember seeing environment agency had changed the law 🤔

Nice fish, never even seen a Xander before in real life! Are they a stalked fish or semi wild like pike? Screw you last ice age! How could we have lost so many species in Northern Ireland compared to the the rest of the United kingdom? Carp, Xander, catfish, barbel, dace, chub were only what 10 miles off Scotland?

Well... congrats for the fishes. But you killed some of them because you fished to deep i guess below 8m water depth. The small Zander at about 12 mins will die! Look at his big eyes which got pressed out of his skull because of the fast changing pressure... Dont throw those big eyes fishes back... take them with you for the kitchen. They definitly will die! If you are not allowed to take them with you stop fishing so deep! I know that it is very much fun and that you can catch easily 10 fishes per day at the deeper parts but always remember if you catch a 90+ and it comes up with those big eyes you really impacted the futre of this species... Greetings from Germany! Hope you understand what i want to tell you.

i dont understand, youre saying those eyes indicate that the fish is suffering from the pressure change, however you can find zander 2 meters deep. i doubt zander from below 8 meter has a different pressure withstanding threshhold than one from several meters deep.

Sorry english is not my native language. I try to explain best i can. The water has weight so if the fish is caught in 8m depth - 8m water in weight is sitting on the fish. So the pressure compresses the fish. Physical mesuremend is bar. For example look at red bass (saltwater) caught in norway in like 200m-300m depth. They get gulfball sized eyes and throw up there own stomach because the compression of the fish will be released as you reel him up. The eyes and the stomach, blood and eyerything will decompress and will just not fitt anymore in the body. Humans would have the same problem i think it is called diving disease. And because of the "construction" of a zander (and perch) the changing airpressure, physical hpa have a impact on them. If condition change they need longer to get acclimate for pressure changes. Pikes are build different. Their swimbladder is connected to their ass so they can acclimate faster. Zander and perch cant

@@icep34ch no i understand, what i was saying is how come many zander and perch also live above depths of, say, 2 meters? what you're saying makes sense if these are deep sea creatures, they are not. And even if they were, fish from deeper depths can withstand the change of pressure, let alone perch and zander which can be found in shallow waters. A zander that spends a day in 8 meter depth is not goign to change its cellular biology overnight... how come we can keep many salt water fish in a fish tank? what youre saying doesn't make sense.
