People talk about inaccuracies in this movie but...in some places on Mount Rushmore, the dead are *literally* mummified like that. The cold and lack of air severely delay the development of bacteria needed for the decaying process and it's only been a small handful of years since she disappeared, meaning she very well preserved for that amount of time. There are mistakes in the accuracy in this movie but they hit more then they missed when it comes to Wick's wife then people would give credit.

Saw this at Grafenwoehr, Germany Army base theater after a long field exercise. During this scene when the literally stiff corpse is shown a guy in my company a row behind said "Don't touch me I'm sleeping!" in the silent theater which then erupted with our laughter. Years ago I came across an article about two climer's on Everest who got caught in a white out, as they were making their way down the mountain they came across another climber encased in ice but they kept moving due to the wind. They finally hunkered down and pitched a shelter to ride out the storm. When they finally made their way down the mountain they reported their discovery but we're unable to give a location of their find, they later were told that the description of the climber they found had been reported missing, swept away by an avalanche some 6 years early, this scene brought back the memory of that article.

Thanks for putting the date in your comment as no one would've had a clue otherwise. I mean, if your comment only said, "That set looked about as realistic as one of those cheap Star Trek sets" everyone would've been stumped as to what you meant.

I bet they chose it because of the short name. Would have made more sense if it had taken place on Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest mountain. Lower altitude but bigger than K2 and Everest with multiple peaks and the major danger is avalanches.

It's a shame to see so many negative comments. I saw thid film in the cinema on release and enjoyed it thoroughly. I still get a kick seeing it on tv or dvd today. It's unashamedly entertaining with a decent cast and some great scenes and a baddie.

Her hood is wide-open more than likely due to tumbling, the wind, and various weather elements over time. Ice packs form over dead bodies as well as many feet of snow, then falls apart in uneven places that can cause a body to thaw and tilt off balance, therefore moving clothing. An experienced climber in the kind of trouble she was in can endure hypothermia as well as psychological issues that make you think your body is hot, causing delirium and loosening your clothes to cool off. During that time, a pulmonary edema is already taking root. Regarding the characters not seeing their breath, due to the geology there are pocket type of areas along mountains where air is warmer than the surrounding temperature. I have seen that happen a few times when living near mountains of Colorado (Pikes Peak area).
