Feeling responsible for his father's death, which occurred during a climbing expedition, Peter Garrett (Chris O'Donnell) has quit the pursuit in favor of photography, while his sister, Annie (Robin Tunney), has become a top climber. After Annie is hired by wealthy businessman Elliot Vaughn (Bill Paxton) to lead a trek, inclement weather causes the crew to become trapped. Facing his fears, Peter assembles a rescue team, including experienced climber Montgomery Wick (Scott Glenn), to save them.

The movie depicts real life situations if you are climbing as I have many many time if you so happen to fall and you have that much weight on you your not getting back up unless you swing and pray like hell his grip holds or she holds sometimes the only option is to cut the weight or you all die that's the choice you make when you climb but most times this situation does not happen when you slip it's your rope not anyone else's attached to you that why I dont follow/lead climb with the same rope

Awesomest ending ever. These movie deserved to be more widely seen just for this ending. A literal cliffhanger. I've always said the young lead was weak in this movie, the female lead (the sister) was better but I am certain about my assessment of her. Perhaps her performance suffered from her male opposite. Her w/ the Paxton character is pretty good. A meditation of cosmic justice (Kharma is this story) vs. personal justice, personal wants vs. duty. A great story.
