This will cause more problems than mildew. Should have used pond liner to completely cover and protect the wall. You could also have used thick felt to replace the need for all that soil

Hi, looks great! Do you have any idea how these plants would cope in the UK climate? Are the deeper pockets necessary or would more shallow ones work equally as well? I’ve bought the 72 pocket 1metre squared cloth.
@fredfinks2 жыл бұрын
uk winter way too cold. indoor fine if you have decent heating. these plants like filtered / indirect / low light, but thats in tropical areas. Peak light intensity (lux/lumens) in the UK is less than half of australia. Put another way, the difference between UK and Australia is more than difference between UK and an absolute pitch black void of nothingness. I.e. you may need some extra lighting in winter. the ferns should do ok, they probably the most tolerant.

Can you do this indoors? And would it attract a lot of bugs?
@thatonedog8193 жыл бұрын
A lot of people have indoor ones for house plants. You need an additional barrier to keep the moisture off of your walls. Any house plant can attract pests, but as long as you are on top of your care, it shouldn't be a problem. That means making sure you are selecting the right plants for your wall, using the right soil, fertilizing right to keep your plants happy and not sick, not over or under watering, keeping proper humidity, ect... Pests are inevitable when you have a bunch, however if you make sure to Check your plants regularly, you can properly isolate and treat the problem quickly. And usually those pests aren't a problem in the house, only to your plants. They STAY on plants. You won't really find them in your shower or anything like a spider or earwig. However those pests pay attract good bugs that eat them like lacewing and earwig. Which most plant lovers welcome, but that's up to you.
@thatonedog8193 жыл бұрын
I really wouldn't have used the same selection of plants that he had because a lot of them had widely different needs. Philo, pothos, and ferns all like high humidity. But ferns need more water. Pothos and Philo like to dry out. You can help this by using different plant mixes. But then you've also got succulents which don't like water or humidity and will more than likely die with a lot of water and high humidity. And most succulents are high light plants, not low light tolerant

I saw some Philodendron brasil, goldon pothos, some type of Scindapsus (a pictus variation I think). I also saw ferns which I believe are Boston ferns. A ton of bromeliads, but I'm really not familiar enough to id them. I think I also spotted some dieffenbachia too. I wouldn't add any succulents to this was tbh. Too different for care needs.
