The most underrated band I've ever listened to. It's honestly a shame they didn't get as big as Alice In Chains or Pearl Jam. The whole 8 arms to hold you album is fantastic from start to finish.
@whitedeion5986 жыл бұрын
The 8 arms to hold you album had its moments, but some of it I found pretty dull. Let's not get carried away here. These chicks were nowhere near the musicians that those other bands you listed were. They were the best female led grunge band, but really there wasn't much competition.
@ahhwe-any74346 жыл бұрын
This is like the female version of Mansons and nine inch nails videos type vibes. Just eerie ish. Pearl jam must have a massive fan base. I find comments about them everywhere. I just thought the instruments were purty & I felt bad for Jeremy - back then... :/. They must've been out in early 90s. However old that singer is, he doesn't seem that old 🤔🤷. Or ages gracefully. Idk ish about Alice in chains - from the top of my head. Also, Veruca Salt has Daria vibes :/. - 82

@Videos of the past I think it was just a changing of the guard. The late 90s were all about pop and veruca salt wasn't in that mold. I remember Benjamin getting some airplay and morning sad too I think, but they never made a video for those. The record company gave up on them by that point. That being said, this is probably my favorite VS song, and I love the video.

Saw them open for PJ Harvey. In the nineties there was such incredible rock music. Punk was winding down, but you still had $5 fugazi shows, watching grunge go from the bands I skated around to in high school in the early hours of the 90s, then they all just exploded. And acts from the Breeders, to PJ Harvey, to Babes in Toyland, was some of the most Kick-Ass female alternative bands. And Veruca Salt was right there. Saw them three times and they were even better live. Their albums are good, but their songs were just take it to a different level live. Louise post and Nina Gordon are incredible.

Bands like Soundgarden (still great), Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Melvins (still great), Helmet, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam, L7, Weezer, Faith No More (still great)....etc. There are many more from other genres like NIN, Pantera, White Zombie, Beastie Boys, Radiohead (one of my favorite bands EVER), Sublime, even Marilyn Manson and earlier Korn. A WEIRD THING ABOUT THIS SONG`S HISTORY, IS THE FOLLOWING: This song and music-video were circulating on MTV back during August of `97, and seemed to be doing well. However, it should be noted that -, with the name "Shutterbug", and other possible photographic references in the lyrics -, the song (arguably) had the implication of being about "the glamorous life" or even about "paparazzi". Also, the song`s lyrics definitely imply that the song`s "setting" is predominantly in Britain -, with mentions of "it`s freezing in Bristol", "love on the 'tele' ", and "lightening in London". ~ THEN, at the very end of that August, Princess Diana died; and SUDDENLY, this video was nowhere to be found. I`ve always felt that this song was a victim of the wave of anti-paparazzi sentiment that swept through after that event.

I had the same exact thought, I came to the comments to see if anyone else thought so. Especially @26 seconds in, Louise looks like she could've been in "Interview With the Vampire". If I was casting a vampire movie back then, I would've called her up. Imagine blood dripping down the corners of her mouth with a big set of fangs. Glorious.

I always loved the Alice in Chains-ish harmonies/guitar vibe on this song

a commenter said he considered them the female counterpart of alice in chains and it hit me that yeah, they have that same heavy and slightly unsettling sound as aic.

@@joejones9520 no wonder I love them. AIC's my favorite band and the harmonies are definitely a big part of that. Veruca Salt does it so well.
