it is recommended to remove the silicon seal from the oil sensor plug, if the sensor fails (as above) it can force oil down the wire, this can damage the ECU and loom and work out expensive, you should do this even if the sensor is not leaking!

@bodgitandleggitgarage7 жыл бұрын
CUS-SPEC it's very difficult to say as I cannot see the car and trying to diagnose this problem will be very difficult but I am guessing it has to be from the return pipe as if it was from the feed the chances of it running is Slim so check the return pipe coming from your injectors to the pump and then from the bump to the back of the engine

@EdgyNumber14 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, is this usually the cause of the oil leak or the symptom of something else? Like you say, I was driving on a long run to London and after I got to close to my destination, the oil pressure light came - on but only below, say 900rpm to idle. I blipped the throttle and it went off (each time.) Checked the oil level and of course it was very low, so I topped it up and thought nothing of it. It seemed to be okay. More recently, I went on a 15 mile run outside of the city and the problem reared up again. Luckily (or not.. £££) I was outside a Halfords store and got some oil to top up. Drove back home and parked up thinking nothing of it. The next day, there was a sizeable puddle of oil on the floor, say a 1 sq. ft... which had me paranoid just in case the nosey neighbours said something. Can this amount of oil really leak from the pressure switch,, even overnight? My uncle said that there's a pressure release valve in the rocker cover and that it can get a little clogged I just wonder if this is the cause of the oil leak or something that causes the oil pressure switch to leak as a symptom. I guess I'm trying to get a heads up as to what's actually happening. None of my cars have leaked oil before and I'm trying to pick people's brains to find out if it's a quick fix or of it's going to kill my wallet. The leak seems to be coming from the front of the engine but not on the gearbox side. Last oil change was a little over 6 months ago but this problem has happened only in the last free weeks. Many thanks mate.
@bodgitandleggitgarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate yes it's possible but obviously oil can leave for my lot of different places the easiest thing to do clean your engine really well with degree so get all the oil off top up the oil and leave it taking over put a piece of cardboard underneath and when you start seeing a couple of trips just look around with a torch and you'll see where it's coming from but you have to make sure your engine bay is really clean before you do this
@EdgyNumber14 жыл бұрын
@@bodgitandleggitgarage Thanks for the advice. I used degreaser to get rid of the excess oil and placed the card underneath. The oil seems to land on the AC compressor and a crossmember somewhere nearby... jesus its a fast dripping! No wonder the oil level runs low! Lol. Anyway, switch to be replaced, and I'm also going to change the rocker cover gasket too (very, very minor seepage) it should give me a chance to check the oilways and make sure the breather is clear. Inexpensive but an embarrassing pain in the butt... thanks again mate, your videos are gold!

I had a rocker cover gasket leak on my Z12XE and the oil ended up on the converter's heat shield, smoke and stink but, thankfully, no fire. Strangely enough no issues at all with the pressure switch gasket. Only a small timing side crankshaft seal leak, but replacing seems to be easy (loosen serpentine belt, remove crankshaft pulley, replace gasket, put pulley back and tighten serpentine belt).
