Very detailed Merkava Mk4 MBT - Panlos 632009 (Speed Build Review)

The Merkava itself is quite a masterpiece, it has its own suspension system and the details looks neat, like the ammo compartment and the interior in the turret. And the ball-jointed gun is really not that bad, it has the ability to aim sideways, unlike Cobi where the gun only aims upwards and downwards. They really did a great job in designing this model, despite the damaged bricks.

Are you referring to the engine block being in the front of the Merkava? It was done intentionally to be part of the crew's defense, and from what I've heard it also makes it easier to evacuate a Merkava than most other modern tanks (they just run out through the back hatch). The Israeli military is small and thus prioritized crew survivability over all else in its design; they would rather lose the tank and at least hopefully keep the crew.

@@Its_Aestheticlist no, the one shown here is not made of Lego bricks, but of Panlos bricks... to the real war equipment, a self-imposed moral limit, that's why the first Lego knight's castle was yellow, because Lego was afraid it might be made of gray bricks to build tanks, etc.

10:44 making it look like its sticking easily just like magnet 😄, seriously to build this tank its not easy task at all, most times many bricks are falling apart as its pretty fragile, i glue the bricks together with super glue to give it more stability. It took me overall 5 days (everyday 1 to 2 hours) to build it together, you need to be a brick freak to build it one time within 5 hours. If you want to keep it more robust, i highly recommend to glue it together, otherwise it will fall apart too quickly if you hold it on your hands with a little pressure. Its overall a nice model, 1 of the best detailed tanks without a doubt for under 50 dollars or euros. With some custom painting you can make it look even greater. 😉

This model is ok. Will look great next to Cobi’s new one but having to cut pieces due to bad design makes me not really want to pick up a set by Panlos tbh.

So. Where to start with this thing. First of all the details are very good. This time I am not even mad about the stickers. On the other hand the color choice seems weird to me. Also I don't like the red parts on there. But that is subjective. Another thing that strikes me is the cartoonishly big fume extractor. I am not sure if it could have been done better without specialised parts but even if so there should have been an attempt.I would also like to see the front machine gun replaced with .50 cal. But again there is nothing wrong with the machine guns put on there because there could have been none and it would still be accurate. So I appreciate their inclusion. The fact that you can easily access the interior is also great. But on the topic of interior. I have a strong feeling that the drivers seat is on the wrong side. And if I am correct this is a huge mistake (so I hope I am wrong). Of course as expected the price for the amount of stuff you get is excellent. Although I don't understand the trend of putting large amounts of 1x1 studs, plates or small parts in general next to each other since there are parts that could have accomplished that by themselves. (maybe it is there to artificially increase the part count???) Overall this is a set with potential but with too many negative quirks for me to justify it's purchase. P.S. Who doesn't like popping the bubble wrap :)

Yes, the driver's seat is in the wrong place, the merkava has the driver on the left and immediately on his right the engine compartment and transmission under his feet. I didn't even understand what periscopes should represent in the real seat of the pilot :/.

if I ever get this I might rework the model a bit, such as connecting the breech and the gun and having them move together, probably change the barrel completely, move the driver to the correct spot, and so on. Just minor nitpicks really, I like this though.

Nice tank and build, but there is a big mistake. The driversposition is on the left side of the hull (in the direction of travel) not on the right side as shown in the tank at min 13:19. The periskops are placed correctly but without a driver behind these makes no sence.

Meinen hab ich letztes Jahr gebaut und ich hatte Probleme mit den Achsen weil die ständig abgefallen sind. Auch beim Turm hatte ich ein kleines Problem mit den Gittern weil die ständig rausgesprungen sind. Nichts desto Trotz hat der Bau großen Spaß gemacht besonders da das Modell über einen detaillierten Kampfraum verfügt. Die Firma Gudi hat ebenfalls ein Merkava Model allerdings hab ich einiges gehört das, dass Platten übereinander schichten eine Qual sein soll.

Cool kit, not exactly right as with Panlos, I.E. proportions are off a bit and the driver hatch is on the complete opposite side as the drivers compartment? But I will give them this, they do add in a lot of interior detail, and now some relatively workable suspension... Will I buy it? No, but I can say this gave me an idea because I use the mid-mounted pivot point bogie system on my mid scale builds, provides decent travel with minimal complexity... The down side being you sort of have to build tanks with even number of wheels... Frankly never dawned on me to use a trailing arm wheel as a roadwheel even though I do use them as Idlers from time to time... Just would have to take into account the weight distribution because if it's a purely pivoting single wheel, it has no resistance to gravity so it can't be weight bearing or else the model would rock, so for an AMX 13 for example it'd have to be wheel #1... With the weight on 2-5 which are split between 2 of the mid mounted pivot bogies, so they don't rock...

This is okay but I can't wait for the Merkava MK2.d from Cobi. I don't really think of the Merkava as a MBT though its always struck me as what the HSTV-L was aimed to do which is just be survivable with some armor. Good video sorry its been a while since i've commented.

Allerdings ist mir das fertige Modell etwas zu überladen mit Abzeichen und Farben. Die Grundfarbe stört mich etwas, denn so kenne ich den Merkava nicht 😎. Ich bin auf die Cobi Version gespannt 😊. If you buy in China you buy on your own risk. Imported sets will mostly be without minifigs. Depends on your country. In Germany you can sell all these sets, but have to remove the minifigs and mask them off on the packaging.
