Years ago we had a pediatrician who worked in different parts of the world. We were fortunate to have him even if for a brief time. He said the same thing as you. Different people had different consistencies and color of wax depending on where they live or come from.

That was impressive - both your work, and the brave little boy. He deserved every single sticker! I remember Neel talking about how he gets kids comfortable with the suction - I think he said he starts by touching their hands or face with the tube so they can feel that it doesn't hurt, even doing it to himself first if they're really scared. I imagine that you have to keep yourself relaxed, even when you're concentrating and ready to pull back at the slightest sign of trouble, since kids always pick up on it when the adults around them are nervous.

Great Job Kid & Doc lol 😂.. my 6 year old had this done as a healthcare provider myself I opt to stay outside the room because I know my kid is dramatic as myself lol so the Ast stepped in and it was a success lol I did stand outside the door with snacks an my ear to the door making sure he wasn’t crying 😂

My twelve years old grandson needs to be seen by an audiologist, no NHS one available, got to look for an audiologist who does private appointment s This is in Wales

Look up the audiology associates, i believe theyre in south wales, they have a channel on here and also ive seen they see children too 👍

Hi Adrian, I used to use a wired otoscope so they could see it on the big screen, until i found a way of casting the endoscope to the large screen in front of them so now i always use the endoscope

i’m in the US and my daughter (5 at the time, 6 now) had a huge chunk i could see, i didn’t want to do it myself , i used the lil booger sucker w drops (5 mo ago) just to try and help a little, made a doc appt the next day she looked in “it’s prefect “ if your lazy just say that i jus checked last night!!! ugh it is so frustrating when adults don’t think children know how they feel and what hurts! i say this to say, within 5 months she’s had sever infections due to it being there as she has swim class every day at school !!! finally i made them write a ENT specialist and we see them this coming week!! thank you for seeing kids, helping them and what is your advice to help my daughter ear pain! no wetness ?(as realistic as possible) i can get ear plugs for the pool but she accumulates wax so fast and it likes to stay at the bottom near the drum and it scares this mama im a single mom of two so me and her sister act like she’s dying every time and cuddle her even tho thats not medically helpful 😅😂

We’re they using cotton buds or otherwise poking in their ears? So full! Irrigation of all that keratin might have ended up him having an awful earache! Kids can do brilliantly when they know it’s very important. Well done Mum!

Its possible he has the early stages of it, however, he was of far eastern heritage - and its normally a drier more skin based ear wax they have

I once had a GP try to get a clump out of my ear with irrigation and all he did was get me completely soaked. He then told me to lay that side on a heated pad while I slept. The next day he was able to get it out. Do you think it could have really make a difference?

What a brave boy and audiologist too! It must be nerve-wracking to work on someone so little! I visualize the doctor who checked my ears when i was four..probably for admission ti kindergarten. All i rem er is how mysterious and cirious it was to have him pull out of one ear a small pencil-eraser-sized plug of brownish stuff. He said, "Look, i found a potato in there." I knew it wasn't a potato, but was disappointed he didn't tell me what it actuàlly was.
