Don't know why so many people are commenting about how they already knew this... Why come here? 😂 The video describes a common mistake, which is overcome by doing something counter intuitive. I remember many, many years ago thinking I just wasn't cutting close enough to the corner 😅 great video

Yep, nice vid but too bad that the cutter didn't run the edges of the cut metal down a bit just before plying the corners together. This would make the welding easier since a gutter-form is created and so the welding penetrates better. Spoken comment misses, this makes understanding so much easier.
@ArvInd-vd2ww9 ай бұрын
I did not understand a thing about what he did. Just by drawing a line the cut became perfect? I see no difference between the first cut and the second one. Can anyone explain to me what he did?
@KBLIZZ33317 күн бұрын
He didn't take into account the thickness of the material in the first cut. The second one was measured right to the edge minus the thickness so he was able to cut closer to the edge so when he folded the two pieces together there was no gap.
@snowwarden37118 ай бұрын
so instead of a point we have 2 points that r the thickness apart?
@ASMguitR Жыл бұрын
This is not a secret. Very many people know to account for wall thickness, including all professional welders. But useful for those starting out.

If you're going to be teaching people, how about teaching them to work safely ? Where is your guard for that grinder? Just look up pictures on the internet of people who didn't use a guard. When that wheel shatters you're going to hope there's a guard on there.
@T.M.... Жыл бұрын
I agree. See it all too often, these channels disregarding safety without a guard. Just comes across unprofessional and cheap.
@mikedillon9080 Жыл бұрын
That's because guards are for people who don't know how to operate a grinder. He knows how to operate a grinder safely but needs only cut 1 45° and flip the other piece and avoid wasting time & rod filling that huge gap
@quaidq4771 Жыл бұрын
Guards are worthless and slow you down
@adamnieuwhof3463 Жыл бұрын
Gaurds are there for a reason even if you know how to use a grinder you can still break a disc people make mistakes and if you have to take the gard off to get in somewhere your using the wrong tool

What a load of crap. Anyone can work that out but anyone with half a brain will see it's much quicker and easier to chop it once and deal with the extra but of welding.
