Why is revenge bullets was firing in the ending cutscene when the Vic Viper is escaping? I know the bullets was coming from the Vic Viper’s parts being destroyed

Why is the scrolling so smooth on that one vertical section but every horizontal section is not?
@Palefox_Hakurei2 жыл бұрын
The vertical shmup games on pc-98 are smooth for vertical but gradius fan-games base on horizontal scroll is not smooth.

@@Palefox_Hakurei That’s interesting. I guess it was some aspect of the hardware.

Guess, Touhou did really stick with vertical.

i think the scrolling specification depends on the structure of video memory like a bitmap RGB layer.

PC-98 uses bitplanes, it's a lot easier computationally to scroll 8 pixels at a time horizontally because writes are all 8-bit addressed. There is some support for hardware scrolling but it's even more coarse and probably not net beneficial for games with a lot of moving sprites like this. The ECG chip had a barrel shifter that might have been used for the sprite blitting, or maybe it just used pre-shifted sprites which is probably faster anyway.
