As a child of divorce, where the dynamic between my two households was just awfull and my mother's and the partner of my father's relationship was so toxic, it heels something in me to see you two beeing so open minded and making everything so clear with who is who and what is what in Arrows life, that is such a great start for your daughter in that family setting. My 4 year old just wants to say thank you❤

My parents have been divorced for almost 29 years and they still can't be in the same room together. Arrow is so lucky to have such mature parents and parental figures in her life. Your dynamic is how it should be!

As a young step mom I know how hard this whole transition was for Dev, the pressure of entering the family and staying, feeling like an outsider. Kuddos to her but I also commend Brittany for being so open and honest with Dev right from the start

I think it’s great to respect your ex’s and your child’s feelings, but there’s also respecting your own feelings. I’m sure it took a lot of work to get here and I commend you. It’s uncomfortable and probably painful at times, let’s be honest, especially when one has moved on and the other hasn’t. I know this from experience also. I kind of sensed a little awkwardness at times in this video too… maybe it’s just me. That probably never completely goes away. Ultimately though, what I see is how much you love your daughter and how willing you are to put her above everything. It’s beautiful. But it’s ok to still have your own feelings too, even when they’re uncomfortable or don’t fit with the ideal scenario. For all those wishing their separated parents had done differently - it’s hard and yes, this looks great, but I’m sure it ain’t at all easy and not everyone has it in them/done that growth journey to be like this. Sending love, you definitely inspire a lot of us with all that you share so, for this too, thank you :)

that’s so awesome that y’all get along! it still makes me so sad that he left you with a very young baby, i wouldn’t ever want to date a man who left his wife like that. but i hope he’s become a better person and father!

It is sad but clearly things weren't working and it's not like he fell off the side of the planet, right? I believe he still helped in a co-parenting way. I guess I just don't understand at what age would it be deemed appropriate for him to leave? Because however longer you wanted him to stay is that much longer of living in a toxic relationship that isn't healthy for a child of any age to be around.

This is amazing. I’m a stepmom too for 5 years now and have not met the moms. I don’t care to since they live in different states and made it uncomfortable for me to even want a relationship with them by how much they judged me before even knowing me. Being a step mom is not easy and it’s tough in the beginning to know what your roles while also feeling like an outsider.

This is such a nice dynamic in todays culture. I know it probably not perfect by any means but just the open communication is so lovely and Arrow can take so much from it. I know personally as a child from divorce at 13, this is not my families dynamic. As I’ve had my own children and kind of just processed the situation I can see my son now having to deal With the divorce 15 years later. It’s very hard, when it doesn’t have to be. No one has to be friends, just civil human beings being able to have heart for another persons reality I guess. Arrows so lucky to have this dynamic and watch you guys grow. ❤

I am a stepmom too, now, i don't care to know my stepsons mom at all, and she doesn't either, and this is also okay. She trusts my husband and trusts that he will communicate everything to me. We have been cooparenting for 7 years now. At first she did have her doubts and would tell them to my husband, but now its great. Especially after we got married. My stepson gets along with me better than he does with his dad and they both know it. So I can tell she's pretty comfortable with me taking care of him. I feed him, go shopping for clothes with him and go on walks when he stays over. They live hours away so we don't have him over often.

I appreciate this so much despite the fact that my situation is, and will never be, like this. I’ve never been introduced to my ex’s gf and my ex disrespects me as a mother and person. I deeply wish I could have respect for a woman who is in my children’s lives, but sadly I don’t because of the lack of maturity and disregard for me as their mother. I love your content but it also breaks my heart. As someone who co-parents with an abusive and highly toxic person, sadly none of this will ever be a reality for me or my kids. But we all carry on, nonetheless, cause that’s what mamas do.

I am sorry but I would never feel it's okay to call the girlfriend of the father "mom" when the mom is in the life of the child, that is just too special of a bond to even consider someone else getting to be called that in front of you. Everything else seems like great dynamics between you three.❤
@brittanybalyn
@brittanybalyn Жыл бұрын
My thought process is that I would be okay if one day in the future, if my daughter wanted to use that term - I wouldn’t be offended. If she was formally a stepmom, and my daughter wanted to use that word, I’d be okay with that. We all know, I’m mom! That special bond is unbroken no matter the relationships outside of us two, or words used. 💖
@amandadetaylor
@amandadetaylor Жыл бұрын
Yeah other than the "mom" term thing I agree with you in everything you said. I'm glad that Dev politely corrects Arrow and says she is the GF, not the mom. I think Dev knows that's not right to call her mom. Words mean something and you can't call yourself a mom if you're not the mom, and the mom is still alive.
@youtubeacc
@youtubeacc Жыл бұрын
I think it depends. If she’s in arrows life and a part of the family, then she’s a step mom. Kids don’t understand step, so they just go with mom. They aren’t meaning it in any offence, they see it as dads other partner so mom makes sense to them. If you’re a co parent it’s wonderful to have your child trust your exes partner so much they also call them mom.
