Dear Whitney, Your videos are a GIFT, not an obligation. You don't owe any of us anything! I found your site a couple of years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed watching and learning from you. You have a special talent for teaching, and you connect with people on such a comfortable level. I'm a disabled, retired Grandma, and I have been sewing since I was 9 or 10 years old, but I still learn from you. You are delightful! It's especially a pleasure to see the items you sew for your children, husband, and yourself. I've truly enjoyed seeing them y'all "model" items you've made. Your first priority must always be yourself and your family. Please know that most of us have been where you are, and we know the pressures of trying to juggle too much at once. I'm actually very proud of you for slowing things down on your KZbin channel! I think it's wonderful that you're stepping back. Like myself, I imagine that a lot of your loyal viewers haven't seen all of your content over the years. So, while it was nice looking forward to what you would post each Wednesday, I (and others, I'm sure) can catch up on watching your older videos. Enjoy your LIFE! I'm glad that your family is so important to you, as they should be! I'm glad that you're focusing on the activities that bring you joy. Once KZbin became a chore, it's time to replace it with something that makes you smile and doesn't bring you stress. Remember, we are loyal viewers, but we are essentially strangers. Yes, we love your videos, but YOU and your family are your real life. Soak up this time with them. My children have been grown and gone from home for decades! I have grandchildren from 22 down to newborn, so I'm old enough to reminisce on the times you are living now! It's fleeting! Don't waste a single moment of it! Sew what you enjoy sewing, and play with your daughters, and "date" your husband! Not posting a video every week will give us all something to look forward to whenever you get around to it, and in the meantime, we can watch your older videos knowing that you and your husband are parenting your girls. Play, Whitney! Enjoy life! God bless you!

"God works in mysterious ways" as they say. Your website crash brought you to realize you need a break. You have been so generous with your time and with sharing your skills. You have to take care of yourself before you can give to others. We've all been there. I know your loyal followers appreciate your honesty and I for one am selfishly happy that you're not walking away. Embrace and enjoy the time you keep for yourself, your family and your friends!

This is the reason I can't bring myself to sew for profit. Sewing is my zen, and if I don't have that, I'm a crazy person. I don't want to lose that mojo. That said, everyone gets burned out and I think it's great you are slowing down so you aren't miserable. I know you love sewing and the community, but we all get burned out. Also, I love cosplay, and I look forward to seeing what you make, even if there isn't a tutorial for all of it. I hope you find your mojo again, and that your personal projects re-inspire you, not because I selfishly want you to post every week, but because you would be happy in whatever you did, no matter how often you posted. =) Lots of love to you & the fam!

I have sewn for 18 years. The last 11 years more frequent and there are many times I buy fabric I like with a project in mind and it takes me months or years before I get to it. Spending time with my family comes before my love for sewing. Keeping up a website/business is difficult with a family. You have to love what you making to keep up what you doing and when you feel obligated to do something you loose the love for it for a while. We love you and we all understand you family and your love for what you do comes 1st. ❤️❤️❤️

WE LOVE YOU! Every one of your viewers love you and the content you produce and we will be happy with how ever much content you are HAPPY to produce. I tried an online selling business recently and it only lasted 3 weeks as I quickly realised it was taking up so much of my time that I was not crafting at all and it was negatively affecting my mental health. I was snappy and horrible to my children and my husband because I wasn't happy. I put a stop to it and got my sewing machine out. You enjoy doing the same. Enjoy feeling the weight lifted and just BE HAPPY with your family and get used to your sewing room without the camera ❤❤❤

I have watched you for many years now and if I can speak for other viewers, I have to say WE LOVE YOU! I think most viewers if they’re like me, will be very happy to see your videos if they come once a week or once a month or however long you want to post. I am not a cosplayer but I am a creative and I’d LOVE love LOVE to see what you’re creating and that doesn’t mean I need a full tutorial from those types of videos you share about your cosplay content... it’s fun to see how people create but that doesn’t mean we necessarily need a full explanation. Inspiration doesn’t have to be full detailed information :) I am totally interested in how people create and when I see something unusual or creative I find that in itself interesting. So, be well and be happy and i pray you feel unburdened and free to create. God bless you 💗 btw I have had many burnouts that have lasted varying amounts of time, it can be discouraging when they last long but I have to think that God is doing something, shifting and changing my focus to hopefully something better that He wants for my life

Darling Whitney, I know I commented already but I just GOTTA say- the longer I heard you talk, the more I knew you were making a good decision for yourself. i think it really came across when you were talking about the pair of dungaries you were making and you wore them and liked them so much. I think women are caregivers by nature and often push their needs and wants aside for others. Happy for you, and if you have a moment of doubt, just read some of the comments below, we are all proud of you, and continue to trust yourself in the future! You are awesome!

The same thing happened with my on my own channel. I was pouring so much into my channel, and I was getting so much enjoyment from it. I couldn't imagine not posting regularly. I pushed through mini burn outs, getting back into a groove was always reassuring that YT was, in fact, worth all the hard work and sacrifice. One day I skipped going out with my family to finish a video. It's sounds bad like I was ignoring my family but everyone needs time to pursue passions, and time alone. I was actually looking forward to having the house quiet and working on something I was passionate about without interruption. I had camera trouble and ended up spending the whole time messing with my camera and didn't get the recipe made, let alone the video. I was pretty disappointed. When my family came home and I told my husband what happened he asked me what upset me more, not making the recipe or not making the video. Because I can still make the recipe. It really opened my eyes and sort of instantly changed my view of YT. I was first passionate about cooking and crochet and YT was just a vehicle for sharing that passion. Somehow YT inched up the priority list. It's almost crazy how it inched up right past the thing it was originally meant to showcase. People will always say "family first" and "we understand you need to step back from YT" buts it's a very odd feeling from the inside. Because yes, duh, family is first, until you find yourself regularly editing videos at 3am and you realize you've been doing it for years and your like "what?!" I totally get it. Making videos hits all the same creative dopamine triggers that crafty people love PLUS the social media dopamine feedback loop, that is designed on purpose to keep us like hamsters on a wheel. But we are not hamsters. Trapped in a system that makes other people money at the expense of our happiness. This is all from a place of love and no judgement. I hope you can see that. For what it's worth, it has become really hard for me to post anything anymore. Still waiting for the spark to return but not holding my breath.

👋"HI !!" 👋 ADVICE: I formally worked at Directv in El Segundo, CA. The company one day had a Corporate meeting. The advice the CEO gave was: "In order to take care of DirecTV you have a couple things to do first. First you take care of yourself after you take care of yourself THEN you take care of your family. Once you take care of yourself and your family THEN you could take care everybody else!" You're no good to anyone if you are not taking care of yourself first." These are words that I have found to live by. Don't live life stressing you're way too young and beautiful. Do it because you enjoy it and not because of stress and pressure. 😊😉❤

Such a powerful, honest and truthful video that needed to be said. I dont have young children anymore but I do have chronic illness so can relate to not being able to do it all. I do wish people realised how much hard work videos are, esp sewalongs. I also rely on ad revenue to get by, it's not easy. Glad to hear you're not disappearing. Sorry about your website. Your challenge to sew my stash was the best thing I could find, it was someway in my mind, but you turned it into words and challenge! The ideas in your FaceBook group are great inspirations for me! Your sincerity and honesty on the start of the challenge made me decide to go on work (only now my health allows me to sew again).During the process, I loved your each time more, and today you my admiration for you explodes of joy and happyness seeing you to choose you and your family on the highest level of priority. Honestly I would like to see worklogs of the cosplays - not necessarily a tutorial but even if you filmed a timelapse and did a voiceover later that'd be great (if you could find a way to do it without worrying about the camera shutting off). There are lots of cosplayers who do this and sometimes it's just nice to have in the background. Alternatively you could even livestream it. Another idea would be to make the costumes/projects and then do a breakdown of them. Show the details, how it goes together and stuff like that which a lot of cosplayers do on their channels. You'd inadvertently be helping people because they might see how you did something and apply that to a costume of their own later. I've been following your channel for a very long time, and I would really like to see you do passion projects and seeing you get excited about them - a girl can only make so many bags before feeling stuck, and I think I speak for everyone when I say we want to see you happy and enjoying sewing.

Ten years is a long time as a KZbinr. I know we say It all the time but there truly is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into running a successful KZbin channel. That time has to come from somewhere. You’ve given so much to the sewing community over the past 10 years that you’ve more than earned some time off for yourself and your family. Do the things that bring you joy. We have 10 years worth of videos and tutorials that we can watch or rewatch.

Hi Whitney. I have been following you for many years, almost the 10 and a half that you have been making videos. During this time, I have lived in Spain, the United States and Peru (my country) and I have always looked for time to follow your projects and do some of them. I have also become a mother in this period, in my case of 3 cute boys (the two oldest are contemporaries with your two girls). Like you, I have evolved professionally and definitely having a family completely disrupts our schedules, our priorities and the way we do things. Many times we forget ourselves, and when we become aware of it, the best thing we can do is to canalize the course of our life and DO WHAT IT PASSIONS US IN THE WAY WE LIKE IT. Do not do things to please others, to meet deadlines. The deadlines are a second phase. The first phase is planning and this should be in complete harmony with what makes us feel full, feel good about ourselves. You cannot transmit that enormous positive energy that you always project if you feel that you are running out. I admire your strength for sharing this video with your community and I wish you the best in this new direction that your communication with us, your followers, will take. When it makes you happy, I will be happy to see your new videos. My admiration for being the strong woman you are.

You’re absolutely making the right decisions! Life flies by and the kids are grown and gone before you turn around so whatever you do don’t miss that! You have enough step by step videos that people can watch. Enjoy your life and your family, only you can do this. You’ll still have us watching...we didn’t even realize how much goes into making videos and have taken it for granted. 💕🙏🏻

Whitney, the bottom line is that your family and you should always come first. I really do appreciate all that I have learned from you, but I don't want to learn anything at the expense of the true happiness of you and your family! Life is short and before you know it, your children will be older and will leave to go live their lives (as they should). So, go enjoy your time, your family and do what you can and when you can!!

"My dishes are clean, thats nice" Oh bless you Whitney. Your babies will be adults before you know it. Sod the house and make the most of them. Post when you want to post and enjoy the process. You don't need the pennies so enjoy your family, your hobbies and just be you. The people that matter will still be there for you whether you post once a week or once a month. Yes that algorithm matters but all they want is consitency. Aim for once a month or fortnightly and if you film more, let it stack up so you are ahead of 'your' schedule. xx

Sounds like to me that you are growing and blooming. Sweetheart, we all have "stepping stones" in our lives where we figure out what matters most to us and yes you and your family needs to come first. Take care of you and yours first! These changes are beautiful and natural and part of our journeys. Don't feel bad about these changes. Enjoy your journey and be happy💛

I love you, Whitney! Seriously, time moves so fast and the kids grow up too fast (speaking from experience since my kids are grown),take the time for you and your family! I love your videos and your instructions and seeing your pretty face, but when everything is said and done, what will matter is the memories you made with your family and also taking time to do the projects that you want to do without the added business pressure. As Ferris Bueller said: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

When you are a busy person it's HARD TO SAY NO to 'things'....... The saying 'when you want something done for you ASK A BUSY PERSON' is VERY TRUE. But you have to learn to say NO to certain things. I'm 71, recovering from a stroke and have HAD TO SAY NO to certain things!!!! Thank God for his hand upon me on that awful day so I can still sew, knit, bake a good cake etc:). My speech is taking time and I'm not without problems but what I'm trying to say is....... Slow down, don't move too fast....you've got to make to this journey last😘. Making fun costumes for your family is MEGA NICE, so this tells you what is good for you. IF YOU ARE HAPPY👏👏👏👏👏THEN I'M HAPPY TOO.

I only recently found you when I was searching for a tutorial on making a fabric basket. Your instructions were so awesome. Straight to the point and in less than 10 minutes I learned something new in an easy to understand tutorial. Now I found this video and I feel for you! That feeling of commitment and hard work over 10-1/2 years, the overwhelming feeling of starting over, and the realization that you need time for you and your family. Step back and enjoy what you love the most! Your new prospective will guide you and you will find the balance that works. Best wishes!!

Yippee for you. It is true that if what you do no longer makes you happy you become miserable. When you post it is nice to see joy and excitment and it is sad to see you cry. This though is a common trauma of working Moms to realize that you have given so much to work that you neglect your husband, children and my goodness the home. You fortunately are in a self employed type of situation to give your family more time while they are still young and I say, Do It! We will be here. Not going anywhere. Work on those things for your husband and yourself and we will see when you feel you want to share. I think you should plan a bubble bath for this weekend. You deserve it.

Your family is the MOST IMPORTANT in our life and you need to do what you have to that makes you guys happy. You have given 10 years of your life to others and now its time to take time for you. We all love everything you have given all of us. My hat is off to you. When your kids are little it might have been a little easier but when they get older and are into other things it gets harder and harder. You need to make yourself happy and your family happy. I did learn to sew from you when i started my journey of sewing crafty things this past year and i so appreciate you and all you have done. I loved your videos because you are one of the few who make videos from start to finish and axrually show your work step by step. I am a visual learner and i need those videos and it has given me confidence to continue to my journey. I so appreciate you making these videos. You go an enjoy your costume making and your family adventures that are in store for you. Costume making is not silly and if it is what your famlly loves do it. Post some pictures of your costumes when they are done. would love to see them... We love you and want you to be happy and enjoy what you are doing. DO NOT FEEL BAD, Cant wait to see you again in whatever you have time to share with us..

Oh Sweetheart! You deserve to put you and your family first - no matter what! Live life with joy and happiness! I love the part when you talked about your priorities and pleasing others by doing what was expected of you, but not doing what you actually wanted to do to make yourself happy. I work for one of our Government offices and right now I'm considered an essential employee that has to work but my DH is not, so he is at home everyday, alone. With our continuing Covid-19 Virus, his many health issues does not allow him to leave home very often and we are terrified that I will bring the virus in to him, even though we take every precaution. Unfortunately, I am the only one that does my job and I've felt the pressure from my Directors by going in to work, because they've made me feel like it was a priority. Your video has opened my eyes and made me realize that my husband is my priority - not my job. I've been thinking for a while about telling them that I just can't do it anymore, but haven't taken that final step yet. Your words of wisdom have made me see how wrong I've been and I'm so very thankful to have 'found you' this evening. You have been a real blessing and it truly touched my heart. Prayers for you and your family .

Your family, your health/sanity and your happiness comes first.. I have learnt a lot from your videos.. About 9 years ago I started having pain in my lower back and my leg.. I was diagnosed with slipped discs.. while being treated for that I couldn’t work and was stuck at home.. I found your channel and started sewing.. Bought myself a sewing machine and made soo many of your projects as gifts for family.. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis).. Life has changed.. I’m now a disabled person and I can’t do a normal job.. so my hobbies have now become my work.. And all your hard work has helped me soo much.. It’s time for you to put yourself first.. To put your family first.. Post when you can post.. I will follow you on Instagram and look forward to your happy family photos and you personal project photos.. Thank you Soo soo soo much for being an inspiration and for all your hard work.. Will be praying for your happiness, health and peace of mind.. Love from London UK 🥰😘😍 Nadia xxx

My darling girl.. You popped up on my feed for the first time today and I watched your video. As a beginner, I love watching videos/tutorials from experienced sewists. You all have so much to teach me but I don't expect this at the expense of your family time, 'your time' and your love of life! I look forward to watching your back catalogue and will be truly grateful for any future videos. It seems you are not alone in this field as several others I subscribe to have decided to get more of a balance between KZbin life and real life! And that's fine....absolutely fine. I'm 62yrs old and a retired nurse and one thing I have learned is that time is very precious. Allow yourself to enjoy it. Every moment.

It takes courage to change. You are a lovely person, and you have taught this older lady a thing or two about sewing! I love your content, but you are wise to recognize it is time to make changes. Those children don't stay children for very long. Youth is fleeting, and family life won't wait. (Ask me how I know.) I took a few moments to read comments and it looks to me like your community loves you and wants what is best for you. Post when you feel inspired to post, and let the rest take care of itself. Go. Enjoy that family! God bless!
