It’s amazing how these people get into the police! Surely MI5 are involved in vetting chief Constables? This clown will resign the day before his secret hearing, just to maximise his full pay while suspended (£14k a month!)

Chief Constables work their way up, so they would have been vetted at the start of their career. Clearly the organisation doesn't care once they are hired or they would do regular background checks into each one

His vetting (DV) would have been done by UKSV - UK security vetting - which would undoubtedly have been done as he rose to chief constable rank if not before. DV is not done when appointed as a police officer. It is quite separate to routine security checks that all police officers undergo. That said, his DV clearance should have identified his lies and I’m astonished it did not. Huge failing.

Not related but years ago I used to buy tyres off police cars for £5 each because if they get a puncture they change all four tyres regardless of age.. I made quite a bit out of it and always had them on my cars because they always fit the most costly brand.

The main area to look into is why this man has 2 different signatures and uses 2 different dates of birth (22/10/1963 & 20/09/1966) if he is an upstanding member of the community. The home office must be crapping themselves at how many convictions will be deemed unsafe if he gets found guilty and the level of compensation needing to be paid out.

Not surprised about this tbh. You can't get a spare key cut for an Office in the Public Sector without raising a "Service Request" with a Contractor. They'll then invoice at £250 for a £4 Key cut at a High St place.
