I turned my mother's silk wedding negligee into a blouse... sadly, Mom was far more petite than I and the blouse required additional fabric in a particular shade of yellow that wasn't easy to track down. We learn so much about history by adapting "old" clothing to contemporary fashion standards...

I've got to admit, I was just about to give up on this restoration until you did place the handmade nails back in. The whole assembly time I was "Oh, come on! Surely you going to put them back!" LOL. And you did. Perfect restoration.

This is one of the most fascinating little bureaus I've ever seen. I've collected coin banks since I was a child, the more doors and drawers, the more I love them, and such a simple wooden cash register like this is just wonderful. The final color is so warm and pretty on this wood, and I love that you reused the old handmade nails. Excellent new feet. Just lovely, all over.

How sweet it is…. You did a wonderful job in restoring this awesome cash box. It was cool to see the hand made square nails n even better when you used some of them on the top of the box. You did a great job on the drawers they looked like they’ve always been there. You kept as much of the original as you could, that’s awesome. It’s what makes this old grocery cash box live again. What a piece of history, as a kid I remember the bread makers in the old part of our city had these boxes. My sister and I used to walk down to buy bread and will handover coins to the bread maker and he would stashed the coins inside the box. What a meomery, what a restoration. ❤
