Original Star Trek tv series classic is like good wine. It's more appreciated as it ages. "Live long and prosper." Thanks.

It is so AWESOME to see Uncles James and George sharing their personal stories! As a boy watching them, I had wished they were my uncles! They will always live in my heart and memories.

I wanted Uhura for a girl friend, hubba, hubba, she was such an attractive woman and as smart as they would allow a woman's character to be in the 60's

I have met both Jimmy and George, at different conventions. Our whole group had dinner with George one evening, it was fun. But the one I cherish is the 3 hours I spent sitting on a couch in a quiet hallway at about 3 a.m. Neither of us could sleep, he had had his first heart attack and we talked medical issues, family, and such. was such a kind, funny man. I managed to meet all of the cast but DeForest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy. Such wonderful memories of each.

I'm so glad stuff like this gets archived on KZbin by people like yourself. These mini-introductions could be lost media otherwise, as they only appeared on VHS cassettes (and only in PAL territories, at that), and were never imported to DVD or Blu Ray releases.

It really is a shame we never got the "Captain Sulu" series we deserved. Mr. Takei is such a well-rounded actor, he could have carried a series easily.

Probably but he was an extremely bitter vengeful person. I know Shatner wasn't an angel but even decade later he was ugh about it. At least nimoy was classier.

@@elizabethjansen2684 Hmmm, I don't know about that. The whole Shatner-Takei feud didn't start until well into the 2000's. Back in the 80's and 90's.... there wasn't as much bad blood or at the very least - it wasn't reported on. I still think a Captain Sulu series would've been a hit. Even re-write Voyager and putting Sulu in the Captains chair would've been better. I enjoyed Voyager but there was always something "OFF" about it. Like, it was almost CAMP, y'know? It didn't feel real and needed some veteran Star Trek people to nail it down like Worf & O'Brien in DS9.

🖖😎👍Very cool and thanks for showing this and James Doohan as Scotty was always one of my all time favorite characters as well as George Takei as Sulu in the show and in the movies and as much of all the various other great characters of TOS indeed!👌.

Poignant that this week we remember D Day, 80 years ago. Jimmy Doohan received multiple wounds and lost a finger (always cleverly concealed on film). He was a real life hero. George Takei, of course, is a different, but equally brave man, fighting for LGBTQ rights, reforms and equality in a hostile environment

This is a nice find! it has been debunked that the reason Majel was not kept on as second in command is because she was a woman and had more to do with her having an affair with Roddenberry

This is very familiar. Did you get this from the sci fi channels presentation of restored star trek tos episodes that included footage trimmed out to make room for commercials. Every episode they had comments from the original cast. Am i close to being right?

Truly brave at that time putting the beautiful African female, Nichelle Nichols, on the bridge of Enterprise! And it was a role that would last a lifetime.

Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (SDS) is a rare, inherited bone marrow failure, characterized by a low number of white blood cells, I have no idea what you referring to when you say SDS syndrome, but either way, I think it was less of a jealousy and more the desire for their characters to do more than just say "aye captain", in the level of popularity the show got during the 70s reruns they probably thought they deserve and expected to do more in the movies, and they didn't, which led to the tensions between them and the leading cast, in TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT the "sidekicks" also had their own episodes and good amount of screen time and that's one of the reasons I think most of these crews got along better, Denise Crosby left the show because of the same reason, she didn't want to just say Yes Sir for 7 years, but from her interviews I think she would be the last person to say something bad about Patrick Stewart or Gene Roddenberry.
