How did you tested, if GPS has a real passtrough?

It’s hard to test. Usually I confirm with the supplier. But there are methods to test and I hope to cover this in a future video.

What happens when you turn on in force display? Would it make the boot up faster?

This option just forces CarPlay to the system display in cars that fall back or return to the system screen after the connection. It’s more a fix for a problem than a feature.

In order to enable gps the car from multimedia, you need to turn on or off gps in the settings menu

GPS pass through option doesn’t work with this adapter’s hardware. It’s a dummy generic setting. On or off will do nothing.

How does the mirror link work? If you have the weather channel open on the phone will you see it on the car screen? Will you be able to see videos if an app has videos on it? Like NFL app it has videos can you see the videos on the car screen? Or any app with videos KZbin, a TV app etc.

There’s no mirroring on this adapter. Any mirroring from iPhone will likely black screen when casted due to copyright restrictions in the app and iOS blocks it when cast. Apps like KZbin and TikTok bypass this.

Hello Anthony, I am currently using Ottocast U2 Air in my Acura RDX 2020 model, I am planning to update that with MMB Mini, do you really think it is an upgrade in terms of speed and boot up from the start of the car. Please kindly share your experience. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, speed wise, you’ll likely not see much of a difference. The mini is slower into menu but faster to pair (maybe thanks to its better BT and wifi5 connections in the mini), but its total boot is around a second or just under the Air. The advantage of the mini is you get a better config menu of options. I’ve not updated the air in a long white to see if much has changed. There’s also the form factor too if you wanted a smaller adapter sticking out of your dashboard/interior

Depends what you mean by the last 2 models? This is MMBs first mini wireless adapter. It's much better than their earlier wireless CP or AA adapters. It's ranked 9th in my Wireless CP only adapters in terms of overall pairing and boot speeds. MSXTTLY and Sunweyer 2in1's are slightly faster but have limited IP config menus for compatibility and tweaking

I just got mine and noticed skipping / random silent static moments occur randomly. 1000ms audio delay even. Any thoughts?

Try either a different audio mode if it has that option in the config or adjust the ms to a higher value. Skipping usually is a trait of the audio delay being too low

Has to be on iPhone, you need to connected wirelessly to the adapter, and it should work on chrome browser. Otherwise just pull up safari and try on that.

Interesting. My mom has one of those car with the USB port right next to the screen. She never had interest in the previous Carlinkit adapters because, well... the cable is long and the adapter is big, meaning it's dangling This adapter is interesting for such a badly designed car

The software is used widely across the market. Kinda Off the shelf software that works with the chipsets they use. Rather than writing the software themselves they can just tweak them or leave them as is. Now in this case they didn’t bother to hide the option in the software that’s shared with other adapters. So it’s still there but the hardware doesn’t support it. It’s not fishy. Just lazy 😂

If you mount your phone near the dash or in a cradle. Even in the centre console. It will be enough for navigation to work well enough, as well as it does when plugged in. GPS passthrough just syncs car nav with mobile for more accuracy in maps. If your car doesn’t even have navigation or gps in the car’s system, then the feature doesn’t matter because there’s nothing in the car to sync with.

It’s not needed it just might be better. You can try with a cable connection to your iPhone to test (if the cable is long enough) put it in a bag or pocket or under your bum whilst you drive and see how it works in navigation apps. If you don’t see much difference it isn’t that much of a nessassary thing. As I said before, it doesn’t replace your iPhone gps it just enhances it with data from your cars gps. Your phone gps is still being used most of the time.

You go into the ip config on your phone but you don’t say how to get there…

Look at the IP address I have at the top of the browser. The IP method of entering the config area has been used for years. I guess mentioning how every time feels a waste of time but I understand people might be visiting the channel for the first time. Basically it’s done via safari browser when you are connected to the adapter for wireless CarPlay. Go to 192.168.1.101 in safari and you’ll see the menu.

Hi My 2016 Peugeot 508 doesn’t have CarPlay fitted into the 8inch touchscreen radio satnav system if I plugged this into the port would it give me car play using my IPhone Regards Roy

Hi Roy. No, these adapters convert existing wired CarPlay systems into wireless ones. So you need a CarPlay car system already installed.
