For a future project I had to make a miniature ship. I tried to put as many details as possible. This CRAFT requires good eyes , patience and steady hands. I hope you will enjoy.

I have used thin wood strips which I have for my bigger wooden ship models. You can find the in modelisn shops that sell wooden ship model kits and matterials. I have cut them to the appropriate size of course first.

can you tell me how big and wide is your piece of wood? And how did you draw that

Unfortunately I dont remember exactly but I guess it was about 7cm x 2cm. I draw it first on a piece of paper which I then glued on the wood I wanted to curve. Hope this helps.

@@krzysztofkuczynski8907 Thanks. my boat was made from a small piece of plywood board. I have never used pine bark and to be frank I am not sure how I could have used it for the hull.

Well, when I was younger, I made several ship models from pine bark, due to its relative softness and ease of cutting. I was using a sharpened knife to carve the general hull shape (with keel and both perpendiculars), then a sandpaper to smooth it, and a chisel to carve the deck inside. After that, I was making the gunports with a small drill bit, and I tried to make them square. The last thing, was to make the all wales, main rails, chaines, beakhead, stern details, bowsprit, masts, yards and other things - all of it from properly formed toothpicks. And a fabric for sails and string for stays and shrouds. The most important thing, is to use the biggest piece of bark, as you can find. Dimensions of 5x2x2 inches, is the minimum. And carve it so that the plane of the deck and keel runs horizontally by the layers of bark, never vertically.
