Self centering gear shifter….or not as the case maybe. I actually drove a few cars in my early days of driving with the exact same issue….not sure if they were designed that way or if there were issues with them. Luckily I didn’t own either. 1988 mk4 Ford Orion 1.6i 5 speed ghia 1990s mk3 Vauxhall Astra 1.6i 5speed The Orion was also very easy to stall….the clutch was like a switch. Didn’t like that at all….I remember thinking, if all manual cars with a 5 speed manual are going to be like this, then I’m only going to drive automatic. Obviously with the 4 speed the self centering wasn’t an issue, although clutch bite still varies….mk2 fiesta 950cc 4 speed also had a horrible clutch like a switch. The mk1 1.0 and 1.3 Yaris is another example, and the Honda jazz 2016-20 (MK3)…..yet the 2018 civic 1.0 turbo petrol has a brilliant manual transmission and very nice to use clutch + hill assist. The clutch tale tale is if you need to rev the engine to move an inch on flat ground…..not good in traffic. The better cars can do that just on the clutch pedal.

I have driven some cars with absolutely horrendous gearchanges and clutches. Some of them didn't even have synchromesh on first either. I have driven a Mark III Astra 1.6, and it was fine. Have not tried an Orion yet, though... Mr Coleman did improve the gearchange of the ZT-T before I left on my journey.

A fine car indeed sir, similar to one I had. Harman Kardon upgrade speakers I see too. Is the middle option button for TrafficMaster?

I mean, it could be, sir! Some MGs and Rovers definitely had it at the time, as I owned one.

Yes it’s the TrafficMaster which was switched off in 2012.
