This chapter made me sadder than usual. I got myself a black cat seven years ago as a fiftieth birthday gift to myself. I named him Thomas after Gentleman Thomas. Two months ago he kept crying to go outside so I finally relented even though I always felt uncomfortable doing so. He didn't come home this time. I received a call the next morning from a place two blocks away. They had found him passed away on their sidewalk. I miss my best little buddy so much and will remember him forever 🖤
