I have been on Quantum twice and loved it both times. The cabins are the best I have sailed on. The best buffet on any ship out of 21 cruises.

Actually, when you’ve been cruising with a line for years, and suddenly something goes downhill, I think you have a right to complain about that. I’ve been cruising with RC with decades and suddenly their food in all the complimentary venues is just awful in comparison to where it was just two years ago. New cruisers wouldn’t know this because they hadn’t had the food prior. But if you’re planning a cruise, which many Cruise Critic readers are, you’re looking for reviews. Hence the Cruise CRITIC part.

Helicopter! The 9-month world Cruise was a huge deal! I'm not sure how you missed it. It was wonderful watching creators go around the world and talking about their experiences. Living Phase 2 was one of my favorite and they are still producing content even though the cruise is over. You need to check them out

I totally agree. I like surprises when I get on my cruise ship. I don’t want them to all look alike. You can maintain quality but still give us some variety. Now I’m going to get in my HELICOPTER and fly away. Love your videos.

Where I live is a very high crime area so we always have helicopters flying over. There's even a dedicated Facebook page for the police helicopter flight path. If we don't have our windows rattled for a couple of days we wonder why 😂

Helicopter... lol just love that. Seriously We've been on a number of Royal Caribbean ships in the last few years, and I will argue with some people on their taste buds. Cruise ships do their best to feed thousands of people multiple times of day. If you want to be wow'd PAY for it at the specialty restaurants. Our next trip is a few weeks away on Independence of the Seas. Been on it before and we love that ship. Will sail again you picky eaters! Be thankful you can cruise. And thank you! For making such wonderful content on KZbin. We've been watching for years. Also we were just on MSC Seashore yacht club and we loved it!

Royal Caribbean has made it virtually impossible for me to venture out too much since we’ve made Diamond status. 8 drinks a day for two of us (56 drinks total on a 7 night 🤪) is a perk worth approx $800+ By next year we will be Diamond Plus. That’s 10 drinks a day. 70 drinks on a 7 night cruise is a perk worth over $1,000 !!! It is what it is.

Helicopter. You kept saying anthem when you meant Quantum LOL. For me Quantum ports in my home town of Brisbane for our summer months and for the past year it has not been the best. Lots of Brocken parts. North Star has not worked in over 12 months. Thank god for dry dock in November

Our Allure cruise 6 months was askew..,food,crew,etc. THIS mediterranean cruise on VOYAGER was wonderful. Food was great. Music all the time in the lobby. Wonderful staff. It was like we were on different cruise lines. We loved the smaller ship!!!

My first cruise was on Legend of the Seas back when I was way younger. Glad to hear the ship still lives in others memories like it does mine... Back in those days they actually had a real 🚁(HELICOPTER) pad on the bow, and not just a point to winch either cargo or a person in medical distress from the ship...

Helicopter are fun! I took two cruises this year and one was a transatlantic cruise on the Oasis of the Sea and the included food was decent all around except for one lunch day at MDR that I did complained a bit about a seafood sandwich. I do like the Oasis class ship as they do offer a large variety of entertainments and activities. My favorite relaxing place is Central Park area on both the Harmony and the Oasis of the Sea.

@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides As far as I know; not one in your industry has yet to cover what I believe is the most controversial topic: Facial Recognition. August 2024 RC's Star of the Seas article is interesting. Like anything else, consumers are offered a convenience, but at what cost? Chain of custody? Is the electronic file then sold? What guarantee does the consumer have that it isn't? I would suggest selling the data will be more profitable than selling cabin. For what it's worth, I think it is a topic that needs exploration. Cheers to you and all your content.

My hubby does the same thing he uses premade crust and makes his own pizza. But if we had to buy frozen I think digorno is the best for the US market. Of course, there are local pizza shops that have frozen that might be better. If we do not have crust though we tend to order pickup from the local pizza shop.

I've sailed on the Quantum of the Seas twice and really loved it. I am a seasoned cruiser (age and frequency) and can pretty much figure out what I like and don't like about all the cruise lines and their ships. Quantum did need a hull refurbish but the interior was beautiful. Helicopter.

Helicopters flying by in Skagway. I just disembarked Quantum OTS last week on an Alaska cruise. Only one bad thing from the MDR for me. On Lobster night half the people in our group had under cooked lobsters. Everything else was great! Ship is going in for dry dock refurbishment in just over a month.

We went as a big family on Independence in 2014. My SIL is very "upscale" and thought the food in the MDR was "wedding food". We thought it was good. She actually asked for Grey Poupon at dinner. But then we went on Symphony in 2019 and noticed a decline in food quality and availability (hours and selection). So my husband has said no more Royal but your Brilliance tour makes it very tempting. We live under a helicopter flight path for our provincial health system. Summer weekends are very busy.

Quantum - we went to an Alaska cruise, the food was not that good when we went, and I agree about the buffet. It was weird bc the line started as soon as you exited the elevators. We had a jr suite and the suite was nice.

This post isn't about cruising per se, but about traveling. And I want to visit Hamburg for the HUGE model railroad exhibit, the "Minatur Wunderland". Admission price, about €18-20. Looks fantastic! We do the same. Make pizza crust. My husband found a recipe for a chicken Caesar pizza. One of our favs. If we get frozen I can’t recall the brand but it’s a pepperoni on Italian bread. I can’t believe the reviews about RCL food. It’s always been good. We don’t do the buffet but the MDR. Didn’t hear it. But “helicopter” hahaha your comment about the sofa was funny.

🚁 I loved Anthem of the Seas out of NJ. My only negative was the food in the main dining room, but we ended up eating specialty dining for dinner and other places for breakfast/lunch. I have 2 celebrity ships booked for 2025, as my kids are 12/14 currently, and I actually asked to go on a ship with fewer kids. We also went on WOnder of the Seas on a school break and it was insane.

I’ve experienced super busy buffet and people were sitting at tables playing cards instead of surrendering the table to someone who wants to eat. Our last sailing was on Anthom of the Seas and it was wonderful, that was September of last year. We’ve been on both Carnival and Royal, as far as I’m concerned the only ship I would never go on again would be Mardi Gras, terrible buffet, very limited, bad layout of ship.

I live in Puerto Rico and the local cruise groups for some reason are not a fan of the ships Royal brings here, usually older ships and mention the prices are comparable to the bigger ships. Not sure where they're getting that as you showed what is true that the cheapest cruises come out of here In fact, I'm going in the Rhapsody next month! First time cruiser and I'm so excited

Quantum was excellent when I sailed, September'82 to Alaska. Food was excellent, even my mother who is an excellent cook thought food was great. Maybe the cooking staff they had at the time wasn't up to par, they do rotate crew. On long lines on Sorento's pizza, normally lines go really fast at least in all sailings I've been.

Definitely agree with you about the cloning but on Carnival. Same is boring and I want the excitement of a unique ship and way different experience from ship to ship. Also prefer smaller ships for regular trips with a Mega ship thown in here and there. Unfortunately looks like mega ships is what they tink we all want or they don't care because more people more money... hum..

I have to agree with the reviewers assessment of Quantum. My first time cruising with RCI in December, and it was almost my last. Here in Australia RCI is a lot more expensive, and what they deliver just doesn't justify the extra cost. The service on board was amazing, but land based service for anyone outside the US is appalling. The food was very average, multiple on board features were out of order including the observation pod. Some things were specific to Quantum, others were just RCI policy in general. I might give Voyager a try when it comes to Australia, but I'd need to find a very good deal.

We don’t normally eat frozen pizza. It’s too easy to order from somewhere to have it delivered. I was curious you started off talking about quantum of the seas, but ended with anthem. Just got off Radiance of the Seas on 9-13-24 (Vancouver to Seward). The food in the MDR was absolutely horrible- we did not have a good meal in the Main Dining Room at all. I ordered chicken Parmesan and it was a round chicken patty with spaghetti noodles and watered down tomato sauce or juice. The Chinese food was terrible in Asian night and the tortellini was very funky and mushy. I’m hoping it was a supplier issue because usually the food on RC MDR is usually very good.

I was on the Quantum in June. Yeah, the food wasn't fabulous I will agree. I just thought it was a weird ship and seemed small to me. Yes, they made the announcement to please leave if you are done but no one was asked to leave before they were done. I will agree the pizza isn't good.

To me, the worst RCL ship we've been on is Navigator. Last year it was chartered by Atlantis Events from LA down Mexico's west coast. The Crew were fabulous, but the food? Below average, especially in the (over rated) upcharge venues. "Chops" and "Jamie's Italian". The "Italian" was by far worst, avoid!! But not helicopters.

Least expensive from San Juan isn't so inexpensive when you have to pay air fare to get there. So figure that in as well.

We have our fourth cruise on Quantum of the Seas coming up next Spring. It is a great ship. Perhaps one reason that it has a lower overall cruiser rating is that it has spent a lot of time in Australia and Asia and cruisers there tend to give lower ratings. I have heard that Aussie cruisers don't like gratuities and tipping and don't like to give compliments. I am sure that varies a lot by person but that seems to but what surveys have shown.

Incorrect. We don't tip. Employers pay employees an adequate wage, and factor that into what they charge their customers. Most of the rest of the world is the same. I'm sorry, but if RCI is going to base ships here in Australia, profit off of our landscapes and scenery, they can bloody well adapt to our market and culture while they're here. Carnival and other lines seem to have no problem doing it.
