I think you gotta listen to Real Life a few more times. At first I wasn't feeling it, but I listened it again and it takes me back to the sounds of Night Visions and some of Smoke + Mirrors and Evolve. And the lyrics really make you think. Real Life to me is my top track from Origins, along with Cool Out, Digital, and Machine.

Yea, Real Life is definetly a song you need to know the lyrics of to really appreciate it i think. It may be sad, but it does sum up how I see the world (and news coverage in Germany). It may be just me, but if I watch a news channel most of the things that will stick to me are negative. Which distorts how you see the world. That's the main reason I usually do not "watch" newscasts tbh, rather than getting their summarized shorter articles online later on, which tend to be more neutral - content is the same "shit", but it is stated rather clinical, so that is something. Also, that is basically it when it comes to using my Smartphone. Have never been active in any "social network", nor will I ever be. If someone wants to tell me something, he can call me. Welp, I noticed I am starting to rant here, so I should just stop.

When I listened to this album for the first time I also thought that some songs were blending together too much and last few songs were really forgettable... second listen is always better... Real Life is now one of my favourites out of this album but it really takes more than one listen to get into some of those songs (at least for me).

Smoke + Mirrors is their best album imo it had the best mixes of rock and alternative. Personally, I miss that rock sound found in Smoke+Mirrors so thats my favorite with Evolve closely behind.

For me, "Digital" is just an Imagine Dragons experimentation, and I think they were trying to sound a little bit like David Bowie (drums and vocals on verses and on the bridge), The Beatles/Pink Floyd/David Bowie/Twenty One Pilots/80's U2 (lyrics) and 90's Depeche Mode (synths/keyboards)

I kinda like all them for what they are. They are each very distinct from each other. Some sound the same, but are just placed differently track-wise. I have trouble unsaving any of the songs on the album. Boomerang is probably one of my least favorite songs, but I still can't unsave it for some reason. Birds was another one that I unsaved and then put back into my playlist. Imagine Dragons making it impossible to unsave even for a little bit. Burn Out and Real Life, are actually two of my favorites, but that just goes to show different taste, which is cool. I am not going to rank the songs, but they all have something to offer. I definitely think their lyrics have gotten stronger. Especially with Digital, Bullet In A Gun, Love, Real Life and so on. They are really picking up on issues that are sort of camouflaged by the musical expression they present it in, but if you just read the lyrics as the song goes, you hear the words and actually go, "Damn, they're really onto something.". That is one of the things I love the most about music. I loved watching your reactions nonetheless. You should try some of their earlier albums, just to get a taste of where they came from. Evolve came out just last year so it's definitely a good one if you want to continue exploring Imagine Dragons. Smoke+Mirrors and Night Visions are the other two albums (from newest to oldest).

Great reaction! + Massive ID fan here! Birds, Bad Liar, Natural, Machine, West Coast are my most fav's. But I think since ID usually have a range of genres in their albums so some might fit to a specific person's liking and some won't. But I still think that Smoke and Mirrors is their absolute best album, followed by Night Visions. I 'd take the five songs i've listed and then join Whatever it Takes, Walking the wire, Believer and Thunder to make a "Third" album. Because in my opinion these are the best stuff that ID have done since Smoke and Mirrors.
