I thought it was an automatic vespa
@Imightberiding2 жыл бұрын
I realise your comment is three years old but just in case you never got an answer or found out how Vespas work, here you go: They still need a clutch to transfer power from the engine to the primary drive pulley of the CVT (continuously variable transmission). They are twist & go but a CVT is not the same as an automatic transmission. They use a centrifugal clutch & a variator which in turn drives a belt that goes in & out on cone shaped drive pulleys. Close to the centre of the pulley it has a smaller diameter & towards the outside edge of the pulley the belt has a larger diameter. If you image changing gears on a mountain bike or road bike, as you change gears you change different sizes of sprockets. Some are small diameter & some are large. This changes the speed & torque/power applied to the rear wheel. Hope that helps. Cheers. *Edit: After all that explaining, I think his Vespa is an older vintage model. It may even be a 2 stroke with a proper clutch & gears. Perhaps an old 4 speed manual transmission. I didn't get a very good listen to the engine nor did I get a look at the cylinder head but what I could hear, it did sound like a 2 stroke so it almost certainly has a gear shifter, full on clutch & manual transmission. If I could see the engine head, exhaust/expansion chamber or really hear the sound of the engine/exhaust, I could tell you for sure.
