Very interestingly I had a lab mix, spayed female, who had a MPNST on her hock at 10 years old. Limb was amputated at the proximal femur. At the time of amputation, no signs of neoplasia in any lymph nodes along the leg, and no mets in chest rads. Two years later she had recurrence at the proximal femur. Chest rads showed mets. She survived another two years until the primary tumor grew too large. I've been told her case is quite interesting, as such distal tumors rarely met as hers did.
